During the month of April, 2016, BE- FARe trained a total of (642) teaching staff including (120) female teachers through Focal Point Training in Sub-office Peshawar, Mardan, Abbott bad and Timergara. FESs organized these trainings in various topics e.i, factors of learning, motivation, learner based teaching methods, how to find proficiency score, how to use map in teaching and Mathematics and Bio of grade 8 etc in the presence of Mas- ter Trainers and Field Educa- tion Officers. committee. BEFARe distributed School uniform and stationery among students BEFARe with generous support of UNHCR successfully distrib- uted school uniform to all boys and girls students of grade 1 and stationery (notebooks, pen- cil box, geometry box, shorpners, pens, pencils and clip boards) in 28 schools locat- ed in winter zone of Timergara and Mansehr in March, 2016 the aforementioned schools were closed in January and February, 2016 on account of winter vacation and reopened on 1 st March. Focal Point Trainings Educational Competition For the quality improvement of education and encourage- ment of students for learning and positive competition among students, schools and as well as teachers, educa- tional competitions among BEFARe schools are regular activities at all Sub-offices. During the reporting month education competitions were held among the boy students of 10 (COPE and PRM) schools and girl students of 07 schools in Haripur in two rounds. In 1 st round competi- tion were conducted among all 481 boy students of grade 8 and 199 girl students of grade 5 at school level by the concerned school teachers for the selection for the final round. After completion of 1 st round 05 students from each boys and girls school were selected and appeared in final round in which MSB – 012 by scoring 87 % marks got 1 st position and MSB – 335 by scoring 84 % and MSB – 007 by scoring 78 % marks got 2 nd and 3 rd position respectively. In girl schools MSG – 293 by scoring 91 % got 1 st position and MSG – 084 by scoring 86 % and MSG – 083 by scoring 84 % got 2 nd and 3 rd position respectively. SMC trainings on Resource Mobilization

CP&D department arranged two days training for capacity building SMCs. Trainings were organized on Resource Mobili-zation under PRM initiative in sub-office Peshawar and Ab-bottabad in which total 260 SMC members participated. The trainings were conducted with the objective to mobilize SMC and Afghan communities for provision of space/ class-rooms maintenance/ rehabilita-tion of building and WATSON facilities in the schools by uti-lize their resources for the best interest of schools.

Extra Curricular Activities

It is an evident from the past experiences that social cam-paigns can play a positive role in the outcrop of the important issues and sensitization of the target groups. Thus, CP&D department not only offering and serving education to target-ed community but at the same time concentrating on social, moral and characteristic devel-opment through various pat-terns of social mobilization campaigns among the stu-dents, teachers and community members. CP&D team organized sport events in girls’ school before the annual examination. Girls’ students actively participated in event and enjoyed the day. In the event, different types of games were played by stu-dents. i.e. Musical chair, tag of war, skipping rope, sack race

and race.

AAR Japan team arranged

initial meetings at BEFARe Schools AAR-Japan, BEFARe staff arranged Kick Off meetings at selected BEFARe Afghan schools of Pania 1, Pania 2 and Padana area. The agenda of these meetings were to give orientation on the project ac-tivities to the Afghan school staff. Participant of the meet-ings were briefed on 4 days TOT that will be arrange for the school staff in the summer vacations. It was found that Teachers and SMCs members were conversant with sanita-tion campaign and kids con-tests which augur well for the project future activities.
