Where does it live? This Australian spider was first recorded

in NZ in 1886, at Waiwera, Auckland. It is now found everywhere in NZ. It lives in dark spaces like underneath

bark and plants, or clothing left on the floor.

The Spider’s Bite White-tailed spiders do bite but will only

bite if you scare them. Most of the time the bite will cause little harm, because there is nothing in the venom that will affect us.

A White-tail bite is sore straight away. Usually you can catch them easily, since the spider has bad eyesight.

Most White-tail spider bites only leave a red mark, and hurts around the bite.

Sometimes the area around the bite can swell a little, and after a while it just becomes itchy.
