The Purpose of « The future » is to

Each sequence to be presented by using the
guideline given hereafter.
Guidelines for conducting the meeting
Before the meeting
Specify the subject and the purpose of the meeting.
Set the agenda.
Notify the participants about the place, date and time.
Make a comfortable open atmosphere and connect with the
audience.
While conducting the meeting
Introduction of the topic (3 to 5 minutes)
Present the agenda: Give a brief overview of the session topics and
the duration (2Hr)
Generate the participants’ interest: Describe how the self,
colleagues, and their family may directly or indirectly suffer the
consequences of an industrial accident.
Make it a participatory session instead of a lecture: This video is
not a teaching tool but support tool for raising questions and
encouraging the debate. Hence make the session interactive by asking
questions and listen attentively to the responses. Make sure that the,
“Safety Behaviour” messages emerges from the audience rather than
imposing the learning on them.
Guidelines for conducting the meeting
Part 1
Stepwise guidelines
1. Project of the film “THE FUTURE ?” (16 minutes)
2. Ask for the feedback of the movie. Let the audience give their reactions Allow
them to speak for 4 to 5 minutes.
3. Ask the audience: “In your opinion, what was the message of this film?”
4. Gather the first reactions and clarify any misunderstandings.
5. Then invite them “Let’s come back to this film and let’s try to understand
why this accident happened”
Part 2
Explaining the movie in sequence:
1. Run the sequence based on the timing given on the slide and pause for
discussion.
2. After each sequence ask the questions prescribed and generate discussions.
3. Ask the audience to empathize with the situation.
4. Listen very carefully.
5. Drive the discussion by encouraging participation. Avoid arguments and
controversies.
6. Respect everyone's opinion.
7. When closing a particular sequence summarize, emphasize key learning and
move to next sequence.

What is your opinion about Ravindran’s comment? Have you made fun safety rules?
Do you have colleagues who has similar attitude?
What will you advise your colleague if he has a similar attitude?

Few people consider following safety rules a nuisance and wasteof time.
But they fail to realise that their casual attitude towards safety may ruin their lives and others too.
Golden rules can save lives.They must be always adhered.

Do you encourage your children the same way?
How do you contribute to their success?
Do you think you can keep up promises given to your family while you are not concerned about your own safety?
Ideas to transfer to attendance:
Everyone will have a dream in their life.To fulfill their
dreams, we should never give an opportunity for an accident
to happen in your life.
One accident and one injury will spoil all the plans and
dreams.

Sequence :4 Violation of WAH5:11 to 6:17
Questions to ask; What is WAH? What are the safety procedures? What are the tools to use in working at height? What is the root cause of this accident? What should Ravindaran have done to avoid this
accident?
Ideas to transfer to attendance:
A fall from height may kill. Never infringe the work at height safety procedures.
Follow WAH procedures every time. Don’t take a chance with life.
It is better to loose one minute in life than to loose life in a
minute. Carelessness doesn’t bounce; it shatters.
Sequence: 5 Family Distressed
6:18 to7:38
Questions to ask
Have you ever faced such situation with your colleagues?
How would you feel to break a news of an accident to the family members of the victim?
What do you think his wife and father’s state of mind at this moment?
Ideas to transfer to attenance:
An accident is a very painful event. Not only for the victim but for the
family too. Now what will happen to Ravindran ,nobody knows.
He is responsible for fulfilling his children’s dreams and providing them
a good future .
After an accident we regrette that ‘if only I had done this or that’, but it is
just TOO late.
Ravindran had lots of dreams and hopes a few minutes before his
accident, but now he is fighting for his life.

How much pressure a money lender can imply on us?
How humiliating situation is that?
Has any of your colleague faced similar problem?

When you are the head of the family, the family depends on you. You
are the one responsible to inculcate safety habit in all walks of your life.
Learning safety after the accidents will not replace limb or the life lost.

Questions to ask
What do you feel about this situation? Who is responsible for
this ? Will he be able to go back to normalcy?
Will his children feel positive about their future? What will be
the fears running in the children’s mind now?
Ideas to transfer to attendance:
Realising a mistake will only prevent us from repeating the mistake. But
it cannot repair the damage we had done already
Safety systems and procedures are for protecting people
Safety procedures are the result of previous accidents and experinces.
Fate may saves you once, Safety saves you all the
time. Don’t learn safety by accident.

Questions to ask:
What did you learn from this movie?
Are you going to make fun of safety rules in the plant?
Do you see safety differently now and follow them?
Do you agree that Golden safety rules are there to protect you in the Plant?

Luck will not protect or favour us. Safety procedures will.
Think about the lion.Stay alert whenever safety is at stake.

What is your resolutions/promise after watching this movie?
Ideas to transfer to attendance: People learn certain things only after experiencing it themselves.
But in the case of safety, chances cannot be taken. It becomes
difficult to bring back things to normal.
It is wise to learn from other’s experiences and lead a happy and
safe life.

Reiterate and emphasize the safety messages communicated.
Encourage each participant to display their support and
motivate all their friends, colleagues and family members to
follow safety procedures.
To reinforce the learning and to keep the participants
reminding of the Safety learning, after each session
participants would lay a brick on the outline that reads
“SAFETY A WAY OF LIVING”
Location for this brick wall would be planned near the plant
entry gate and everyday when employees enter the plant
& they will look at the safety wall they had constructed and
it will constantly remind the importance of safety in
workplace.
