The DBA program we o�er is a complete Doctoral degree, but contrary to the Ph.D., this program provides a key focus on professional experience and applications. PROGRAMME DIRECTORDr. Andrew Hambler | BA (Hons), Msc, LLM, PhD, SFHEAConsultant Director - DBA

Dr. Andrew is an experienced academic who has worked for 16 years in universities in the United Kingdom as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor. Andrew’s degrees are from Durham University, University of Manches-ter and the University of Leicester. He studied for his doctorate at Durham University. Andrew worked with Westford University College for many years as a partnerships manager and link tutor and has a detailed understanding of the needs and expectations of experienced professionals undertaking study internationally. He is an experienced doctoral supervisor and examiner and has advised a number of Higher Education institutions in the UK and overseas

on their course development, including the introduction of professional doctorates. Andrew’s research is in the areas of labour law and human resources and he has a particular interest in religion in the workplace. He has published several articles, book chapters and a monograph. He started his career as an HR Consultant for the global financial services company PwC. For some years, he was an o�cer in the British Reserve Forces.

Andrew helped to design and write the DBA programme and his continuing role is to provide advice and guidance to the programme team as well as undertaking some supervision, research training and examination work.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

EARLY EXIT AWARD

The programme commences with structured coursework designed to build research competencies, followed by a research project that applies those competencies to improve business practices or to add new practices.

This programme structured in to 2 stages, the year one consists of 5 taught modules comprising to 60 ECTS Credits. Successful students of the stage -1 will progress to the final Practice Based Thesis which will be completed in 2 years from the beginning of the research. Maximum duration allowed for the research is 3 years and minimum is 1 year.

Successful students of stage 1 will be awarded MPhil-Management by Universidad Catolica De Murcia, Spain, if the student decided to exit without completing the final research thesis.

DURATIONStage 1 (Taught Modules) - 1 Year Stage 2 (Research) - 2 Years

Though the term for research is 2 years the learner can extend it for 1 more year. An amibtious student can even complete the research in one year also based on their schedule.

MODULE DETAILS

The purpose of Year One is to provide a theoretical and practical foundation in research methodology for advanced empirical research within the management field. The later part of the Year One is to apply knowledge and understanding of research methodology to an actual pilot study and overall thesis proposal, and to reflect on own performance as a researcher.

The purpose of Year Two and Three is to conduct, under supervision, a detailed and research project, meeting the expectations of research act doctoral level, and to write it up in the form of a thesis.

4. To synthesise and present research findings in the form of a structured written dissertation. Module 4: Designing a Research Project (Thesis Proposal)

1. To identify a topic for systematic and critical review, which is at the forefront of research in practice in your professional context.2. To develop an appropriate research question which will allow for secondary material to be critically analysed e�ectively, empirical research to be conducted, and for conclusions to drawn.3. To demonstrate a deep critical understanding of the appropriate theoretical and empirical sources of information, which is relevant to the topic of the chosen methodology.

Module 5: Developing as a Researcher (Individual Reflection)

1. To understand and analyse the principles of reflective practice in both management and research2. To critically reflect on own competence and development needs as a management researcher3. To identify the further skills required to successfully grow and develop as a doctoral-level researcher in a management field4. To identify how any required skills or competences may be attained and to plan accordingly.

Module 6 : Practice-Based Thesis

To research (ethically) and complete a doctoral-level thesis, which represents an original contribution to scholarly and professional thinking, and is of a quality worthy of publication.

Module 1 : Research Methodology and Methods

1. To explore the main research paradigms within the field of management research2. To critically understand the methods of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis3. To demonstrate advanced skills in data handling, using appropriate statistical software4. To demonstrate high-level skills in qualitative research methods5. To demonstrate deep competence in quantitative research methods

Module 2: Research Issues within Contemporary Management

1. To understand and conceptualise a ‘research problem’ in contemporary management2. To analyse how management researchers have conducted significant research projects3. To identify and critically discuss what is considered ‘cutting edge’ knowledge within management4. To identify and assess potential areas of research within di�erent management disciplines.

Module 3: Interim Research Project (Pilot Study)

1. To demonstrate the ability to devise, plan and conduct an extended piece of independent work (in an ethical manner)2. To critically assess the chosen topic in the context of the current literature (including existing studies).3. To critically analyse data in order to o�er a sophisticated interpretation of results/findings, bringing original thinking to bear, in order to draw justified conclusions

EARLY EXIT AWARD

The learners who successfully completes the year one with 60 ECTS credits will be eligible for a exit award, Master of Philosophy in Management (M.Phil) from Universidad Catolica De Murcia, Spain, if the learner decided to exit the course without completing the final research. The exit award subject an additional certification fee of USD 3000.00 apart from the year one fee. The learner will be allowed to resume his research at a later stage if he wishes to continue his DBA not later than 5 years from the date of exit. The following modules have to be successfully completed to be awarded an M.Phil degree.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Eligibility

Once the application is submitted, the Admissions Team will screen it to verify your eligibility for the program. If eligible, an interview will be scheduled for you with the Interview Panel of the program.

The interview is conducted via telephone/Skype/Zoom for international candidates. The Admissions Department will release your admission result within one week after your interview with the InterviewPanel of the program.

A- Candidates must have an MBA or Master degree or equivalent from recognized institutions.

B- Candidates must have at least three years of work experience at managerial level.

C- Candidates must have a thorough command of written and spoken English. English level: 6.0 IELTS or equivalent.

FAQCan I apply to the program without finalizing on my research topic?

Yes, you don’t need to finalize your research topic to start the course. You may need finalize broad subject area of interest and the program team will advise you about your chosen theme and assist you in finding a sustainable research topic. The final research topic should be approved prior starting the final research.

Which research topics are accepted?

All topics are accepted as long as your research is connected to management. You can choose a variety of fields such as HR, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, international business and strategy etc.

Is the DBA program appropriate for professionals with full-time employment?

Yes, the program is structured to accommodate the busy schedules of full-time professionals with a well-developed support system which is highly flexible. Though the course duration is 36 Months the learner can complete it with in 24 months or can take up to 48 months. All depend on the time the time the student has to invest for the research.

What steps can I take if I am unable to complete the program in 3 years?

It is possible to extend the duration for an extra year with an additional fee.

What if I have to exit the programme before completion of research?

If the learner wants to leave the course midway of research or at the start of the research, he will have an option choose for an Exit Award, MPhil in Management. Exit award fee applicable.

What is a DBA?

The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) is ablended part-time professional doctoral degree with an international scope and reputation, designed to enhance executive and professional practice through the application of sound theory and rigorous research into real and complex issues in business and management.It enhances the capability of the learners to develop knowledge and theory, and their applica-tion in business.Key aspect of the programmes is to develop personal, consultancy and research skills in the context of rigorous and relevant research.

DBA has both rigour and relevance as it contributes to theory, practice and research in business and management.The DBA program is a full-fledged Doctoral degree, but contrary to the Ph.D., there is a focus on professional experience. The PhD program is targeted towards those interested in pursuing research-focused careers in academia.
