Cataract Surgery - Process
1. Cut an incision in the eye2. Remove the lens from the eye3. Insert a new lens 4. Rest the eye for a week
Cataract Surgery – NDA
• The Natural Disaster Aid sponsored 20 cataract surgeries, each costing $25.
• This includes cost of plastic lens, disposables, medicine and surgical center. Eye surgeon does not charge for surgery as he is a Rotarian.
• Most of the people who are getting eye surgery come from underprivileged section of our society. Some of them are 60 – 75 years old.
• They are laborers, washer men, barbers, vegetable vendors, maid servant and have other menial positions in society - all of which require eyes to maintain their livelihood.
