AUGUST 2017 Thank you to those who volunteered their time and/or donated blood to make OES' first ever blood drive a success with Life Serve Blood Center! We had a good turn out and with 20 donations, were able to impact the lives of up to 60 people! Thank you all! A SUMMER OF CELEBRATION BY LAURIE KREUL, ADMINISTRATOR We have had a very busy summer! In May we had several staff members graduate from high school and college. We are proud of their accomplishments and we wish them all the best for a bright future filled with adventure and learning. We celebrated Nurses week, Nursing Home week, and C.N.A. week with special food and contests. We also had an amazing annual plant sale. It is always wonderful to host the Eastern Star Grand Family. We had a nice variety of plants and other items for the auction. We are so grateful to everyone who purchased items and helped in any way to make this another great success! In July, we hosted our first annual blood drive and participated in parades in Burr Oak and Nordic Fest. We have been enjoying fresh lettuce, kale, cucumbers, and other items from our gardens and we are anxiously awaiting fresh tomatoes and corn on the cob. Anyone that has witnessed the amazing work of our staff knows how exceptional they are. This summer they articulated their compassionate hearts in a big way by donating over $1000 worth of cash, gift cards, and needed items to Helping Services in Decorah. Staff/shifts were split into groups to see who could donate the most items and our Arlin Falck Assisted Living Team won! Congratulations to them and thanks to all who were so generous in giving!! It is in giving that we receive St. Francis of Assisi We have been graciously blessed by all who give gifts to our facility. This summer we received two very generous donations in loving memory of John and Marion Gabrielsen, another in loving memory of Ken Timmerman, and yet another in loving memory of Dorothy Arp. Your gifts make such a wonderful difference in the lives of our residents and staff.

Fest. We have been enjoying fresh lettuce, kale, cucumbers, and other items from our gardens and we are

anxiously awaiting fresh tomatoes and corn on the cob. Anyone that has witnessed the amazing work of our staff knows how exceptional they are. This

summer they articulated their compassionate hearts in a big way by donating over $1000 worth of

There are no words that can ever adequately express the gratitude and appreciation I feel
