A Seminar On Poultry Respiratory diseases Report By Tean Zaheer, Assistant Editor, The Veterinary News and Views. The event was organized by Merial Pakistan which was primarily based on dissemination of the current trends regarding vaccination against respiratory diseases of poultry. Key note speaker of the event was Dr. Haneef Nazir (Poultry Veterinarian). The worthy Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science, Professor Dr. Ahrar Khan also spoke on the event. He appreciated and reinforced the concept of such interactive professional activities. Dr. Mahboob presented welcome note to all the speakers and professionals attending this seminar. Dr. Haneef Nazir briefly accounted for the steps to be kept in view for disease control at poultry farms e.g. taking adequate management measures, strengthening of bird immune status keeping in view possible disease challenges. Appropriate vaccination schedules and their adequate application are the vital steps for disease control, he added.

Dr. Haneef elaborated the normal respiratory system of poultry birds in detail. Along with this, initial signs and major symptoms of respiratory distress in birds were also explained. Major respiratory diseases of poultry, their causatives along with major symptoms were the focus of the seminar.

The second session and topic of discussion remained the various possible routes of poultry vaccination along with the choice of vaccination and the adequate vaccination schedule. The seminar on this topic was positively ascertained by the audience from various sectors of the field and question answer session at the end of seminar proved to be a healthy interaction among professionals.
