JUNE BOR REPORT ASUWB President Leah Shin [email protected] | 13th of June 2019 One area that connects with food is looking to build a housing option that will incorporate a dining hall or a more sustainable food option for our students. With Husky Village with a predicted 1-2 years deemed as safe living conditions for students, I think it is in the best interest of the UW community to look at a sustainable housing and food option. UWB parking rate increase (which was approved by the Board of Regents) will help support the construction of new West parking Garage and cover increase in transit expenses. In addition, Commuter Services will be providing valet-assisted parking in fall 2019 which will ensure that more community members can access parking during peak periods of demand. ASUWB had another successful tailgate in partnership with CSG, Campus Safety, and the Bothell Police Department. With a goal to connect students with the safety community and learn more about what students would like to see regarding campus safety, the teams were able to gather student feedback. Next years team will continue hosting events like this. With over 200+ individuals attending Wellness Fest hosted by the Health & Wellness Resource Center, individuals in our community were able to be connect with community resources specialized in health and mental health. Our ASUWB team will be providing final recommendations in fall 2019 on what long-term health solutions we can provide for students. B/206-19 | 6/13/19 Page 1 of 2

This past month our team welcomed its annual Equity and Inclusion Conference last Friday. Hundreds of students, professionals, and community members came together to learn how they can use advocacy to empower themselves and their communities. Among the workshops was our storytelling workshop held by ASUWB x DC as the second part of the On My Way series focused on LinkedIn and owning your personal brand. Our team also led another successful campus safety tailgate, supported at the Wellness Fest, and launched our ASUWB end of the year survey to hear how

ASUWB can do better next year. Lastly, thank you ASUWT for hosting our last tri-campus meeting of the academic year. It was great for the outgoing and incoming student government teams to connect and plan for the 2019-2020 year.

OUR PAST MONTH IN UNDER 150 WORDS...

WELCOME THE NEW  2019-2020 ASUWB TEAM5/6

MESSAGE FROM THE ASUWB PRESIDENT

Dear UW Board of Regents, Thank you for serving on the board for the 2018-2019 school year. It was a pleasure connecting with you all and witnessing the impact you've made in our Husky community. As I wrap up my term as ASUWB President and my four-year journey as a UWB husky, I would like to share my experience at UWB.  Truthfully, when I arrived at UWB I did not know what to expect. It was much smaller, younger, and not as well known as the main campus. I came to UWB with the goal to transfer to UW Seattle. However, after meeting the faculty, staff, students, and community at UWB I realized I could not leave a place that believed in me when no one else did-- even myself. It just took time for me to understand how special UWB is and what it can enable students to conquer. I found who I am and what I love to do with the support of UWB and the rest of the UW community. As regents representing the tri-campus, you all have such a pivotal role to connect with students, challenge processes that have been set before you, and foster the next generation of leaders who will do the same after you. With that, I ask the UW Board of Regents to continue and include UWB and UWT in discussions when it comes to making decisions that will impact our communities. The time, dialogue, and insight you all bring to our campuses have the influence to do so much. Thank you for the time and work you all have done and continue to do.  ASUWB President 2018-2019 Leah Shin
