HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANTThis position under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director assists in all facetsof Human Resources including, but not limited to, talent management, benefits administration,wellness tracking and preparation of related documents and reports to support departmentinitiatives.

Provides administrative and general supportto Human Resources in a professional andconfidential mannerAdheres to Port policies and interprets Portpolicies and procedures to personnel Provides assistance to personnel,applicants, and associated vendors on HRrelated mattersCompletes external/internal posting of jobvacancies; generates and maintains alldocumentation relating to open positionswithin the Port; coordinates positionopenings between Port management, andothers; works closely with hiring managersand HR staff throughout the hiring processConducts reference and background checksand assists with employment verifications Assists in recording and maintainingemployee information such as personaldata, compensation, benefits, performanceevaluations and termination dataCreates and maintains personnel filesParticipates as the Human Resourcesliaison for the Wellness CommitteeRecords and maintains employee/spousepoint system for the Wellness ProgramPrepares monthly and quarterly wellnessreports for Payroll purposesPrepares job posting reconciliation andsubmits to accounting department

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administers various Human Resourcesprograms such as blood drives, flu shotsand health screeningsEnters requisitions and purchases ordersfor the HR department using the AS400systemPrepares monthly invoices and vouchersfor the Accounting department Orders office supplies, among other items,as necessary for the HR departmentEstablishes necessary office files, typesand proofreads reports, letters and othermaterials and researches information onthe internet for special projectsKeeps department informed regardingspecial assignmentsAssists with special projects related tohuman resources administration Arranges meetings and attends relatedmeetings when necessaryAssists with records retention initiatives forthe departmentServes as the point of contact foremployees to provide passes to localvenues as part of the benefits planPerforms related duties as assignedCPR certified or ability to become CPRcertified within the first year of employmentTier 3 status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILEThe preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplinedindividual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of human resources initiatives.The successful candidate must be professional, dynamic, energetic, and a self-starter with abilityto maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy with solid interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALSHigh school diploma or GED equivalentValid driver’s licenseAbility to obtain and maintain aTransportation Worker IdentificationCredential (TWIC) during course ofemployment

EXPERIENCEMinimum of two years of experience in thetype of duties outlined above or acceptableequivalent experiencePrevious experience with an applicanttracking system, preferred
