JMJ

January 14, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always.

It has been two weeks into the New Year and it is a sincere hope that we still experience the same joy, hope and love the birth of the Christ child brought us with His Birth.

I shared in one of my homilies that I have been using for quite sometime a blanket someone made for me as a Christmas gift. I thought it was a little narrow but really warm so it is used in combination with another blanket. Last New Year’s Day, after spending the whole day with my brother and my cousins’ family, I came back to an empty Rectory. Fr. Stephen was on vacation in Chicago and I think Fr. Joseph was not here too. I was feeling lonely and got ready for bed when I saw for the first time the inside design of the gift blanket – guess what it said “Joy, joy, joy . . .” all over. So I slept that night covered in “joy” that melted away my loneliness and woke up feeling loved by God . . . and I am gratefully joyful. Little experiences like these – which are grace-filled moments for me, is what makes me smile and even sing.

What has the two weeks of 2018 been like for you and your loved ones? If we look deep enough and be open to the Spirit then we can experience grace-filled moments in surprising situations and circumstances. We had an opportunity for fellowship and dinner last Saturday to experience this at the Knights of Columbus sponsored Christmas Dinner.

On January 20th, we can deepen our relationship with the Holy Spirit through the Life in the Spirit Seminar. Many of our other ministries like Bible

Study, other spiritual activities and formation also offer us an opportunity for growth and spiritual maturity. Let us continue to engage in our call to discipleship and stewardship.

As we go through the daily grind of life this year, let us remember to give time and space for prayer so we can keep the joy of being loved by God everyday. Who knows the experience of God’s love may just be a blanket away. God bless and take care. Love and prayers,

Fr.

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval

Foreign Currency and Tithing From time to time we receive foreign currency in our Sunday collection. Unfortunately, we are not able to deposit foreign monies with our bank. We appreciate our parishioner’s time, talent, and U.S. treasure!

Financial Statements In an effort to save the cost of postage, end of the year tax statements that are requested will be emailed to you or will be available for pick up in the Reception

PASTORAL SERVICES APPEAL (PSA) 2018

Again, this year our diocese is providing opportunities for us to share our resources through the PSA “Proud to be Catholic, Know .Love . Serve” campaign. This annual campaign supports diocesan

ministries in many ways. Please look for a letter from Father Thomas in the mail during the first

week of February with information on the PSA. This year our Parish’s share of the costs of these

ministries is $128,000; donations received over that amount will be returned to the Parish for our

building fund needs. Please come to Mass on the weekend of February 17th and 18th and be prepared

to make your pledge and initial payment. Please prayerfully consider the amount of your pledge to the PSA. Together we are united in the Catholic

faith knowing that through your generosity many people will be served. Thank you for your

participation in the life of Santiago de Compostela and the Diocese of Orange.
