REPORT ON ENGINEER’S DAY

CELEBRATION

Engineering is not merely knowing and being knowledgeable; engineering is not merely

analysis; engineering is not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to

non-existent engineering problems; engineering is practicing the art of the organized forcing

of technological change.

Parul Polytechnic Institute has celebrated Engineer’s Day on 15th Sept 2016 in honor of Dr.

M. Visvesvaraya, a True Gem of India and to remember the best of Engineers we ever had.

September 15 is celebrated every year in the country as “Engineers’ Day” to commemorate the

birthday of the legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Sir Visvesvaraya, an

eminent Indian engineer and statesman was born in a remote village of Karnataka, the State that

is incidentally now the Hi-tech State of the country. Due to his outstanding contribution to the

society, Government of India conferred “Bharat Ratna” on this legend in the year 1955. He was

also called the precursor of economic planning in India. His learned discourse on economic

planning in India, Planned Economy for India and Reconstructing India, was the first available

document on the planning effort of the country and it is still held as the parent source matter for

economic planners.

The objectives of celebrations of Engineer’s Day:

• To take a pledge to promote and encourage the youth to opt for Engineering education.

• To produce quality Engineers for the bright future of our country.

On the occasion of Engineer’s Day Celebrations many Technical events were organized in the

Department of Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, civil Engineering, IT Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering in order to inculcate the competitive spirit among the budding

engineers. Total 121 students took part in these events. The whole event was co-ordinate by

Technical Team of Parul Polytechnic Institute.

(1) Brain Storm - A Technical Quiz Competition was organized; Around 70 students have

participated under Technical Quiz Competition. Round 2-3rounds were conducted to finalize the

winners of the Quiz Competition.

(2) A Crack -d- Scrap activity was organized, witness active participation of 51 students have

participated in this event.
