Project ObjectivesProject Objectives

To report on the work of the NYC to the youth

To analyse the State of the Youth in South Africa

Strengthen the lobby for implementation of National Youth Service.

Promote the youth sector’s understanding of Parliament as part of the key institutions entrusted with upholding democratic values and principles

DescriptionDescription

More than 100 youth leaders drawn from various youth organisations will assemble in Parliament on Tuesday, 26 June 2003 for the debate.

This will be preceded by a tour of Parliament as well as a cocktail dinner hosted by the Speaker of Parliament /JMC on 25 June 2003 (not yet confirmed)

PartnershipsPartnerships

The Speaker of Parliament will be approached to request support to ensure success. We rely on the JMC to open the doors to Parliament. Support required involves accessing a venue for the meeting in Parliament, hosting of the co cocktail dinner as well as arranging of the tour.

SAA and Transnet will be approached to sponsor traveling of the delegates from various parts of the country to Cape Town.

Various hotels will be approached in order to negotiate a deal for reasonable accommodation.

Travel by for 50 delegates @ R400 per person = R20 000 2 night accommodation for 70 delegates at a cost of R300 per

person (including meals) = R 42 000 Development of corporate materials (banner, t-shirts, bags etc) for

100 delegates @ R100 per person = R10 000 Evening cocktail costs @R100 per person X 100 = R10 000 Entertainment (local performing group) = R5 000 Audio visual recording estimated @ R5000 Hiring of 2 buses for local transportation estimated @ R5000

Total costs = R97 000
