Welcome to our Term 2 Week 9 Newsletter. This term we have explored many different topics including how our body works, our families, safety, shapes, patterns, the fruits of the spirit and nursery rhymes just to name a few. Next term we look forward to continue to explore our families, body safety, road safety, being safe everywhere we go, the 10 commandments and many more things. If you have any ideas or books about safety we would love to hear about them so please bring them in. Thank you to those families who were able to join us last week at our come and play morning/afternoons we had a fantastic time showing you what we know about our bodies. A reminder that next week is nude food week so please remember to try and pack rubbish free lunch boxes. Any rubbish in your child's lunchbox will be sent home. Congratulations to our ELC children who came third in our loose coin challenge. We celebrated coming 3rd and filling our kindness Jar with bubbles and stickers. Our kindness Jar is a jar that we fill with buttons every time we see someone being kind. It took us a few weeks to fill up and the children were so excited to celebrate. Blessings, Emily Bondarenko- ELC Director.

OUR LEARNING

We are learning about the sound

Oo in week 9 and Uu in week 10 for

Jolly Phonics. The name of the

letter is pronounced O/You and the

sound that it makes is oo/uu.

Can you find things that startwith Oo/Uu ?

In our Pre-Lit program we are

learning about segmenting. For

example the word butterfly can

you stretch it out b-u-tt-er-f-l-y

What sounds make up theword caterpillar and holiday?

During the school holidays we

will be exploring some STEM

activities.

What can you make out ofrecycled materials at your

house?

OUR LEARNING

We are exploring the human body

and how it works.

We are learning about our

muscles, bones, organs and our 5

senses.

Taking turns is a very tricky but

important thing to understand.

We are learning to say 'can I

please have a turn with that?'

and to respond with either

giving them a turn or saying

'when I'm finished you can

have a turn.'

This year we will be focusing on

teaching the children independence.

This week we would like you to helpteach the children how to set the

table for eating.

Steps towards Independence

Communication Pockets and Books: Each child has their own pocket in the foyer where you will

find notices and communication book. Please remember to

check this each day your child is in ELC. We understand you

may need to contact the ELC during other times which you

are welcome to do via email [email protected],

or phone 8283 0000.
