Page 16: A PROJECT REPORT ON VIKAS INDUSTRIES

Vikas IndustriesThis is the first step in the process. The raw cotton after plucked from the Field they

are brought to the APMC to sell in a mass quantity from many middle men’s like farmers,

agents. Industries also have some contracts with the farmers who grow raw cotton, when the

raw materials brought from the field it contains all types of Farm wastes and dust (like dry

leaves, dust, rotten and unwanted useless cotton). So the Quality Department of the VIKAS

industries plays a vital role in selecting the quality of raw cotton, quality department will

check quality of Raw Cotton and buy the Raw Cotton which is fully controlled with quality;

and sent to next process

Pre-Cleaning of Raw Cotton:

When the buying process completes the next process is of pre-cleaning of raw cotton

which means the impurities (dry leaves, dust, rotten and unwanted useless cotton, grass, mud,

waste) from the raw cotton are removed so that it is sent to next process

Pala:After the separation of impurities from the Raw cotton the next process is Pala. Pala

means giving moisture to raw cotton. Nearly around 8% of moisture is given to Raw Cotton

by moisture meter. So that it can be work softly or smoothly, efficiently for next process.

Ginning

In this process there will be separation of seed and farm waste of in other words Here

again all types of Farm wastes and seed is segregated and clean cotton is separated. This

process is Ginning.

The machine is of robust construction. The design of the ginning allows easy access for the

separation or deviation of seeds and lint from the raw cotton. The machine has “Push button

operated” it is one of the most modern calibrated instrument and gauge. Ginning capacity-80

to170 kg per hour depending on the variety, quality and type of cleaned cotton.

When ginning separates seeds and lint from each other. Seeds will go for further process like:

And the lint will go for next process that is Lint Pala.

Lint Pala.

After the separation of seeds and lint. Lint will go for lint pala here again the moisture

will be given to lint by moisture meter. So that it can be convenient for next stair.

Salient features of lint pala machine:

The machine is of metal heavy duty constructed.

Auto-matic bale weight control.

Pressing:

Cleaned Lint is taken to the bale press which compresses or when lint pala perform its

duty appropriately, and then the lint will be taken for pressing. The main cause or fact of

pressing of the lint is for the convenience of the transportation and as well as for the purpose

to provide clean and quality lint to its clients or to customer. When the lint will pressed there

will be change in size but not in quality or quantity the ginned lint into bales that weigh

around 170 Kgs. After pressing is completed the bale is tightened and covered fully with

cloth, after then the bale is weighed and kept in the hall safely.

Cotton being a bulky product (less weight but more in volume) it has to be packed only after

pressing to reduce the volume. After pressing it is packed in, what it is called as “BALES".

Packaging the Lint:

The bales are then wrapped with a protective cover, ready for delivery to the warehouse

where they are sold to various textile mills

Out Put :

After completion of work of the entire processing department, then the next process is

of output of the lint where the industry will dispatch the lint to the spinning mill. From there

it will be sent to the next process like: Yarn mill, Textile mill etc.

Vikas Industriesways that benefits the organizations and stakeholders.

Marketing social definition—

” Marketing is a societal process by which individuals and groups obtain what they

need and want through creating, offering and freely exchanging products and services value

with others. Some think marketing as an “art of selling”, but if just a part of marketing.

Understanding customers and developing products are always better.

As a managerial definition,

Marketing has often been described as “the art of selling products.”

But Peter Drucker, a leading management theorist, says that

“The aim of marketing is to make selling more than expected. The aim of marketing is

to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells

itself. Ideally, marketing should result in a customer who is ready to buy.

According to Philip Kotler:

“Marketing s the social process by which individuals and groups obtain what through

creating and exchanging products and value with others

So Vikas Industry highly concentrates on marketing where the quality, trust and

relationship are the key factor of Vikas group. Most of its promotion is done by positive word

of mouth and quality and accuracy and time management. So the main customers:

Southern part of Spinning Industry.

The industry follows the policy of best quality of best quality with lesser price

compared to competitors. Some time they follow penetration pricing in order to attract the

spinning mills.

The Industry markets its lint to southern part of state because textile mill or spinning

mill are more there, and the reason since from 25 year the industry is marketing its lint to

southern parts of the country.

LITERATURE REVIEW

The world is full of stimuli. A stimulus is any unit of input affecting one or more of the five

senses sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. The process by which we select, organizing

interprets these stimuli into a meaningful and coherent picture is called perception.

In essence, perception is how we see the world around us and how we recognize that

we need some help in making a purchase decision. People cannot perceive every stimulus in

their environment. Therefore, they use selective exposure to notice and which to ignore.

Marketers must recognize the importance of cues or signals, in customer’s perception

of products. Marketing managers first identify the important attributes, such as price or

BHARTESH EDUCATION TRUST’S GLOBAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, BELGAUM

Page 31: A PROJECT REPORT ON VIKAS INDUSTRIES

Vikas Industriesquality, that the targeted customers want in a product and then design signals to communicate

these attributes. Customers also associate quality and reliability with certain brand names.

Companies watch their brand identity closely, in large part because a strong link has been

established between perceived brand value and customers loyalty.

CUSTOMER PERCEPTION

Introduction

“The illusion that times that were are better than those that are, has probably

pervaded all ages”.

As diverse individuals, we all trend to see the world in our own special ways.

Four people can view the some event of the same time, & each will report in total honestly a

story different from all the others.

Reality to an individual is merely that individual perception of what is ‘out

there of what has taken place. Individual act and react on the basis of their perception not on

the basis of objective reality. Thus to the marketer, consumers perception are much more

important than their knowledge of objective reality. If one thinks about it. Its not what

BHARTESH EDUCATION TRUST’S GLOBAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, BELGAUM

Page 32: A PROJECT REPORT ON VIKAS INDUSTRIES

Vikas Industriesactually is so but what consumers think is so that affects their actions, their buying habits,

their leisure habits and so forth because individuals make decision and take action based on

what they perceive to be reality, it is important that marketers understand the whole notion if

perception its related concepts ; so they can more readily determine what factors influence

consumers to buy the consumers perception enables as the marketer to develop

advertisements that have a good chance of being seen and remembered by their target

customers.

Meaning

Perception can be described as ‘how we see the world around us’ two individuals may

be subject to the same stimuli under the same apparent conditions, but how each person

recognizes then, selects them, organizes them and interprets them is highly individuals

process based on each person’s own needs, values and expectations.

People can emerge with different perceptions of the same object because of three

perceptional processes.

Selective attention: People are exposed to tremendous amount of daily stimuli the

averages person may be exposed to over 100 ads a day. Because a person cannot possibly

attend to all of these most stimuli will be screened out a process called selective attention.

BHARTESH EDUCATION TRUST’S GLOBAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, BELGAUM

Page 33: A PROJECT REPORT ON VIKAS INDUSTRIES

Vikas IndustriesSelective Distortion: Even noticed stimuli do not always come across in the way

senders intended. Selective distortion is tendency to twist information on into personal

meanings and interpret information in a way that will fit out pre conceptions.

Selective Retention: People will forget much that they learn but will tend to retain

information that supports their attitudes and beliefs . Because of selective retention, we are

likely to remember about connection products. Selective retention explains why marketers

use drama and reputation in sending messages to their target market.

Customer Perception Audits:

Every time you lose a customer, there’s a reason why. Do you really know what your

customers think about your business, your offerings, or your service? Are they having good

or bad experiences? Are you equipped with the insight you need to improve customer

satisfaction and loyalty, and make the changes that matter? Entrepreneurs are often too busy

to really take the time to tap into what customers are really thinking. But customers hold the

key. They know what you need to do to dramatically increase the value you deliver to them.

Why keep this data a secret? Uncovering and understanding it will give you what you need to

be the best, generate higher sales and referrals and earn repeat business.

Customer Perception Audits by Coach Kevin captures information on the experiences

your customers are having, analyzes the data, and provides meaningful, actionable

BHARTESH EDUCATION TRUST’S GLOBAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, BELGAUM

Page 34: A PROJECT REPORT ON VIKAS INDUSTRIES

Vikas Industriesrecommendations on short-term and long-term improvements, with the goal of closing the

gap between the service that is delivered and the service that customers expect.

Opening of economy and liberalization in trade in the country brought a sea of change

in customer’s perception of buyer and seller relationship. The customer today is not only very

demanding but also likes to know the relationship between the supplier of goods and services

and its relationship with the manufacturer or principal and its antecedents. It is on this

relationship depends the guarantee and warranty terms to which the customer is entitled. A

customer expects trouble free service during the guarantee period. Thereafter it is expected

that a product will last to its full productive life with minimum down time and the vendor will

provide the required support service to ensure the customer is not put to trouble.

For adopting Japanese management or for customer oriented management we should

first have the willingness and a determination much above the petty personal gains. It needs

an attitudinal change. Looking towards present socioeconomic and political conditions such

change is not foreseen in immediate future. Market forces will have to play the game with

only customer in mind if India has to make global presence. There is little time in hand as we

are having challenges from all sides. Small nations like Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore etc.

have already surpassed us. These nations are working on a vision and resultant plans. It is the

right time for market players to pamper the customer.

Remember that a customer always buys a product or service with a lot of expectations

which he has derived from the promotional inputs of the company or other sources including

word-of- mouth. So a customer would be satisfied when Performance is equal to Expectation

while would not be satisfied when Performance does not match with Expectations. Now this

expectation is what has been derived from perception. Perception is not good or bad, right or

wrong, it is just the way someone judges an experience based on their value system of what

they believe should happen. Since people are unique, each of their perceptions are unique .On

the other hand each situation is a "point of contact" with an employee that will tell the

customer a "truth" about the company's idea of customer service. Each situation will create

expectations of what the next experience will probably be like.
