The ADvance platform has been designed in close consultation with leading
publishers. It provides a fulfilment and data management solution that’s
fit for purpose in an increasingly complex and competitive multi-platform
environment. The application is entirely web-based using Abacus’ proven
Software as a Service architecture to ensure reliability, scalability and rapid
platform development and rollout. No more waiting for complex software
upgrades or system migrations. The solution is modular so that publishers
can choose those elements and services that best suit their business. From
the start the platform has been designed to support clients that want to
undertake data management or fulfilment in-house, but with the security of
being backed up by an experienced team that can provide bureau services
as required. It’s a new model that puts the publishers back in control with
access to all of their data, all of the time.
Mining the Data – Actionable Intelligence
Making the most of customer data is all about finding the sales opportunity
– a concept we call actionable business intelligence. The ADvance platform
provides powerful analysis and reporting functions using a denormalised
data structure as well as business intelligence tools that can then be used
to allow audience groups to be recognised and segmented. This segmenta-
tion allows full analysis by demographics and profile, spend and activity

an essential part of the fulfilment mix. Abacus has wide
experience implementing sophisticated paywall and gate-
way technology for customers including Emap, UBM and
Thomson Reuters, so it’s no surprise that a content access
module is an integral part of the ADvance platform. It allows
the publisher to define sophisticated product and access
regimes that can be used in conjunction with the publisher’s
CMS to limit or permit access to content based on a wide
variety of variables including metered access. Products can
be created that mix and match any or all of these criteria
to determine user access rights and the product offers and
options presented. These products can be made available
to individual users and institutional customers (via site
licences) through the full range of payment mechanisms.
