    GTU-the Initiator:

All the colleges (except deemed universities) imparting education in Engineering, Pharmacy, MBA and MCA of the

state brought under one roof for:

Inter constituent collaboration: For example between MBA and Engineering students.

2009: Started PG programs: MBA (four electives and five sectorial specialization areas), MCA, M.Pharm.

(eleven specializations), ME (thirty eight specialization).

2011: Started Ph. D programs in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, and Computer Science.

Continuous modernization of syllabi in all branches, with a major change in Business Studies by creating a

Global MBA program with four Functional areas and five Major Specialization areas.

Increasing the importance of practical work and having projects which are anchored in the needs of the

    industry and the society.

Steps for Leadership in Learning Outcomes:

To improve the teaching learning processes for the teachers as well as students, GTU has initiated several activities,

    i.e

Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE) for PG Courses Gujarat Technological University

(GTU) has as many as 40 PG level courses in various disciplines such as Master of Engineering (ME), Master of

Pharmacy (MPHARM), Master in Computer Application (MCA), and Master in business management (MBA). GTU has

decided to make cluster of more than 2500 courses websites for various PG level courses to achieve the following

objectives such as organizing and sharing resources; providing effective ways to reach remote learners and connect

them in a virtual course; to appeal to students' visual and interactive learning modes; to help teach students real-

world skills such as handling large volumes of information, developing research skills, analyzing and evaluating

    information.

Such Learning Management Systems are today used in every University in the developed countries. However in

India, this may be the first large-scale use of launching such a large number of courses website.

    Please see: http://www.gtupgcourses.org/

GTU Discussion Boards ("Exchanging Tips and Discussing Topics")

GTU Discussion Boards enable teachers, senior faculties and principals of GTU affiliated colleges to interact with

each other. GTU aims to achieve the following objectives through discussion boards to get educational as well as

administrative inputs for decision making; to build relationship with institutes and among institutes and to enable

discussion and debate topics which will give each other tips and ideas. The first four Discussions Boards for

Principals/Directors of PG courses is being launched.

Preparation of a Common Minimum Course-ware:

Using senior teachers in the large network of Colleges in GTU, Courseware for more than 1,200 courses of the

University is being prepared and shared among all the Colleges. This ensures a common understanding among all

the Colleges about the interpretation of the syllabi and a good standard of teaching-learning process even when a

College has inexperienced and new faculty.

Practice-Oriented Technologists: Workshops, Laboratories andf project work are being given greater
