Grade 5 - Bunnings Spud in a Bucket Challenge!

The students were supplied a bucket and a small potato with an eye. They then planted their spud in their allocated bucket, now to keep them watered and watch them grow.🥔🥔🥔

Tracky Dack Day

It was great to see both teachers and students looking very comfortable in their tracky dacks last Friday. We raised $285.90 for “TLC for Kids”, an organisation which provides support for sick children and their families around Australia. Thanks everyone for being involved! Heathmont College Asian Day What a great day our grade 5 students had at Heathmont College for Asian Day on Wednesday 29th of August! Five local primary schools attended and the students participated in four workshops which included students creating their own Indonesian masks inspired by the story of Ramayana. Students then experienced martial arts and self-defence, followed by an Indonesian dance session complete with traditional dress and music. Students also took a class in Japanese origami, attempting very tricky designs. Flying Woks provided a delicious lunch of chicken fried rice and Japanese vegetables for all students and staff. The day ended with a question and answer session with Heathmont College students who are currently studying Indonesian, and a video created by a student who attended the College’s Indonesian study tour. Thanks to Bu Devathas and Heathmont College for such a fantastic day! Terima kasih, Bu Dowling

Time for a cleanout…

Spring has sprung and what better chance to start a spring cleanout than school holidays. BNPS will be supporting Red Nose by completing our 2nd Closet Cleanout for the year. Leading into the school holidays, we will be sending home a collection bag to all families to be returned at the start of term 4. What will we be collecting: Any clean, wearable adult and children’s clothing, paired shoes, hats, handbags, belts, towels, sheets, pillowcases, fabric and soft toys. There is no limit to how many bags we can collect! So get ready to clean out your closet and make some space for your new summer wardrobe.

Congratulations Girls!

Nikita, Maddie, Georgie, Cassie , Emily, Hailey, Rhani and Grace all members of the Bayswater Junior Football Club won their U12 footy grand final on Sunday. What an exciting win! The girls played so well. Everyone contributed and applied so much pressure to the opposition for the whole game. Well done!

Tee Ball Final - Two out of three is worth writing about! Well done to the tee ball girls who represented the Maroondah District to play in the regional finals at Waverly Park on Monday. Their enthusiasm and determination was impressive. Unfortunately they lost their first game against Parkwood 10 to 12. They had a win against Beverley Hills 13 to 5 and they also won their third game against Mount View 16 to 7. Based on percentage they did not qualify for the grand final. The girls worked really hard and have improved so much since the season began. With straight wins all season they should be very proud of their efforts. A big thanks to Michael who coached the girls in term one and to all the parents and grandparents who came to support our girls.

Caring for Children – Working with Parents

Our Term 3 Project

We are almost there!! Our Term 3 Project is extremely close to being finished and we are quite excited to see it in its final stages!.

The children have been enthusiastic the whole way through this Project and have been an integral part of making suggestions of what we could do, how we needed to do things and of how it is being displayed in our room. They had some excellent ideas that made our Project grow and we have implemented so many of their initiatives.

We can now tell you that our Term 3 Project is a large Program Jigsaw Puzzle that desribes our children. Each child chose a jigsaw puzzle piece to draw something about themselves in. Some drew themselves playing their favourite sports, such as footy and rugby. Some drew themselves dancing and performing on stage. Some drew themselves with their families and pets and some drew themselves in favourite places. The children then decorated their puzzle pieces to make them colourful and to stand out in the completed puzzle. Every jigsaw puzzle piece is beautiful because of the effort, dedication and talents of each child who chose to complete a piece. As more puzzle pieces were finished, children would come in and immediately start to put the puzzle together to see how it was growing. Then when it was finally put together, we asked “What will we do now?” The suggestion of putting photos of our children and activities on spare puzzle pieces was made and that is exactly what we did. These were placed around the main puzzle and look wonderful. It looked gorgeous, but something was missing. AHAH – we needed a sign!!. Janine brought a canvas and we discussed what could be on the sign. We decided to write …. “BREAKFAST CLUB CHILDREN ARE … SPECTACULAR and EXTRAORDINARY !” The children are in the process of decorating the letters of our sign and then we will place stickers on it. Once this has been completed, our TERM 3 PROJECT will be finished!! Congratulations to everyone at Breakfast Club, a wonderful attitude and effort was shown by everyone. We hope all Dads and Special Friends had a wonderful Father’s Day, and had an excellent day – maybe with brekky in bed and a special day with your families. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! Thank you, Janine and the Breakfast Club children

OSHClub Bayswater North Over the past fortnight the children have created some great Art pieces of Snowman, and colourful popsicle squares. The children have enjoyed sharing their news every afternoon and developing new and existing friendships. Before we have afternoon tea together each child is given the opportunity to share a piece of news, they can choose to talk about something they have done during the day, what they are looking forward to or what they are or have done on the weekend. Over the past fortnight we celebrated Joel’s and Hepsi’s birthdays. At OSHClub we love to help make every child special and celebrate every success and important event in their life. This fortnight at After School Care we will be celebrating the new season of Spring! Over the past coming few weeks we have been making the most of the good weather and staying outside longer. The children have loved playing 2 and 4 square outside, as well as playing many games of basketball. We will be exploring Spring through the form of Art and exploring the school grounds for flower sprouting's. Over the coming weeks could we please ask parents to update their enrolment of who has the authority to pick up your children. Also, a reminder to please provide us notice when needing to cancel your children as there is a cancellation/no show fee for not contacting us. We must also ask parents to please not share their log out information with their children, as this is a legal requirement that only authorised people are to know the passcode to log you children out.
