WHAT IS STUDENT CLASS? The Student-Class layout is a newly developed format for
collecting student schedules.
School districts will use this new layout to report data for the Student Course Profile (SCP), Class Rosters, and Class Size data collections.
Unlike Student Record, which is a year-end collection, SCP, Class Rosters, and Class Size provide an avenue for identifying students assigned to one or more teachers during the school year.
WHY WAS STUDENT CLASS CREATED?
The Student Class layout was created to eliminate the redundancy of multiple layouts collecting the same type of current class information.
The Student Class application was created to provide one process for uploading current class data to meet multiple reporting requirements.
BENEFITS OF STUDENT CLASS? The Student Class layout collects program information that will allow
schools to better describe the types of instructional services students receive in a given class.
One of the benefits of this new layout is the ability to report multiple instructional services provided to a student in a class. In previous layouts, a student that received both Special Education and EIP services in a class segment could not report both instructional services. In this new layout, both the EIP service and the Special Education service can be reported.
In addition, the Student-Class layout allows the school to identify students who are taking a course online, for credit recovery, or through an alternative education program.

Reporting Period (‘A’) is all year. May be concurrent with periods that require superintendent signoff. No superintendent signoff required. Using same Pnn as record counter.
Reporting Periods - 2 times per year. (‘D’ and ‘I’) May be concurrent with SCP upload times. Requires a superintendent signoff. Using same Pnn as record counter.
Reporting Period is 4 times per year. Using Class Size periods to count for 2 of the required 4 periods. (‘C’, ‘D’, ‘H’, and ‘I’) Requires a superintendent signoff. Using same Pnn as record counter.

E5020 - PRIMARY AREA reported in Class Size differs from Primary Area in FTE.
SELECTED EDITS
E5023 - An ADDITIONAL TEACHER ID is required when INCLUSION CODE '9' is reported.
E5024- An ADDITIONAL TEACHER ID is required when ESOL Delivery Model '2' (Push-In) is reported.
E5025 - An ADDITIONAL TEACHER ID is required when EIP Delivery Model '1' (Augmented) is reported.
SELECTED EDITS
E5006 - Teacher ID 444444444 is only valid for credit recovery and online courses.
E5016 - COURSE TEACHER ID = '444444444'. COURSE NUMBER should have “0” (xx.0xxxxxx) or '3' (xx.3xxxxxx) as the first digit after the decimal.
REPORTING ONLINE COURSES Self-Directed Instruction Facilitated Instruction
Description Self-directed Computer-Based Instruction - includes online course, locally installed courseware, and courseware accessed remotely. All instruction is by the computer program. The software gives the grade for the student's performance.
Facilitated Group Online Learning - Computer-Based Instruction - includes online course, locally installed courseware, and courseware accessed remotely. All instruction is by the computer program. The software gives the grade for the student's performance. The facilitator is there to monitor and help the student, but does not deliver direct instruction.
Examples Student is taking an online course or using courseware without a teacher or facilitator.
Student is taking an online course or using courseware with a facilitator.

In the case where there is a facilitator, which teacher ID should be reported? This is also a scenario where instruction is provided by the computer. The facilitator is not responsible for instruction or content. Use all 4s as the teacher ID. Should the course number be XX.3 or XX.0? These courses could be XX.0 or XX.3. Description Direct Instruction with certified teacher - Computer-Based Instruction - includes online, distance learning, or virtual courses. A highly qualified teacher is the teacher of record.
Classroom teacher that uses courseware or online resources and tools as part of instruction. The classroom teacher provides direct instruction and is the teacher of record.
Examples Courses taken through GAVS or courses offered online at another school within the district, state, or out of state.
Traditional classroom that incorporates online content and uses technology in instruction.
