What is a Neighbourhood Action Plan?
• Part of the Merton Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy which focuses on ‘bridging the gap’ between the East and the West of the borough
• Deriving from the national strategy ensuring that ‘no-one is disadvantaged by where they live’ more importantly that every individual has equal access to services such as good education, community safety, clean environment etc.
• 2 year action plan developed in partnership with local agencies and across council departments – project focused responding to issues on what residents would like to see improved in their area – ‘shaping your neighbourhood’

• Act as a lobbying tool for resources

What are the findings so far?
• More activities & facilities for Children & Young People in local parks
• A need for a Community Centre• More activities for older people e.g.. Lunch club• More benches in Parks• Increased Police patrols• Cleaner streets • Outdoor Gym needed • More community events• Section 106 money to be spent locally• Local training courses to be available
PROVISIONAL TIMETABLE
• October : Neighbourhood Plan devised
• November :Consultation on Plan (Focus groups & online)/ noticeboards
• December onwards : action neighbourhood plan & distribute newsletter to residents
