which takes place in the Aegean Sea, in the heart of the Greek summer

Aegean600: The new classic 

The sea of myths and legends. The sea of Homer, Seferis and Elytis. The sea of painters and philosophers. The sea of sailors. 600 miles of sailing in this sea. An offshore race made by sailors for sailors. A race where the wind god, Aeolus, will make his own game to control sailors’ seamanship. A race where the dolphins will accompany the boats to drive them faster to the finish. A race with enchanting sunrises and sunsets. A race where mythology will reward sport in a unique water track. All this and much more will be the “Aegean 600”.  

 

“The offshore endurance race you join wearing a t-shirt” The start will be given by Homer’s sanctuary, in front of the columns of Poseidon’s temple, and with the wishes of the mythical god of the sea the boats will sail for Milos, the home of the Venus of Milos.  

Surrounded by Cycladic white, they will reach the scenic Caldera of Santorini, where the white of the houses blends with the volcanic rock creating unique contrasts and images. The route continues towards the southernmost island of the Aegean Sea, Kassos, and leaving Karpathos on the left, the nativity island of Athena, and the residence of Prometheus, will reach the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights in Rhodes.  

Participants will continue towards scenic Kos and Kalymnos, the island of sponge divers, while on the way they will meet, besides dolphins, beautiful small islands, each with its own history. The fleet will sail next to the full color islands of Pharmakonisi and Agathonisi, and will continue to Ikario Pelagos, a sea that offers strong sailing excitement. The sailors will meet Patmos, the island of Saint John and the Cave of the Apocalypse, and will head to cosmopolitan Mykonos and Delos, the birthplace of Apollo. The last islands of the route will be Giaros and Kea. Finally the contestants will face the Temple of Poseidon that will mark the end of this sailing adventure.

The race will take place 14-20June 2020 right in the heart of the Greek summer 

The start & finish line is in front of Olympic marine in Lavrio area, 30min from Athens International Airport

X-YACHTING will be supporting the event by offering bareboat or skippered charters  

Race-ready brand new X-Yachts 

 

You can charter a whole X-Yacht in bareboat basis to join the race with your crew or friends 

or just a cabin on one of the skippered X-Yachts

Combine the race with a few days days onboard prior to the race for training or just relaxing

Deep 2.5m keel, adjustable backstay, carbon bowsprit, full teak, bow thruster, 40yrs anniversary wheels with teak, Tempur mattress in master cabin and a very flexible and well engineered tri-radial sailplan.  

The sailplan is engineered, designed and executed by Quantum and their well-known sail designer Pat Tahtatzis. And it includes:

Our two Xp44s have a uncompromised racing setup, carefully engineered:  

Deep keel version, carbon mast, carbon boom, composite wheels, carbon bow sprit, mast jack, control of outhaul-cunningham-boom vang from the side deck (by crew), no swimming platform for reduced weight, no teak deck (apart from cockpit) for reduced weight, carbon keel frame.
