Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering
Educational ObjectiveThe MS in Renewable Energy Engineering (MSREE) at OIT is designed to prepare graduates to be energyengineering professionals who have advanced knowledge and skills that enable them to assume a broad rangeof technical leadership roles.
Admissions Requirements1. Meet OIT Graduate Admission Requirements.2. Degree Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in engineering, physical science, or related technical discipline.3. Show evidence of 1) potential for graduate level academic work, 2) work experience or potential for successin industry, and 3) demonstrated interest in energy engineering. This evidence is to be provided as part of aPersonal Statement, Resume, and two Reference Evaluations for Graduate Admission.
Application for Admission Requirements1. Submit the MSREE Application Form.
2. Submit Official Transcripts.3. Submit a Personal Statement (2 pages maximum).4. Submit a Resume (3 pages maximum).5. Submit two Reference Evaluations for Graduate Admission.6. Submit GRE scores (optional): Considered in support of the application to show evidence of potential forgraduate success, especially recommended for applicants without work experience or previous graduate levelcoursework.7. Submit TOEFL scores: required for applicants whose native language is not English.

The MSREE program is designed to enable working professionals to earn a MS inRenewable Energy Engineering (MSREE) from OIT without taking a break from theircareers.
Our executive MSREE students meet the same admission requirements, receive the sameprogram services, follow the same curriculum, receive the same degree, and study with thesame faculty as students in our traditional, full-time MSREE program.
Option A-Traditional Full-time Residential ProgramClass schedule: day courses 3-4 days/weekLength: 2 academic yearsAudience: Full-time studentsSupport: Graduate Assistantships (Teaching Assistant and/or Research Assistant)
Option B-Full-time Residential for Working ProfessionalsClass schedule: evening or Saturday courses 3 days/weekLength: 2 academic yearsAudience: Working professionals in the Portland Metro Area
Option C-Executive Program for Working ProfessionalsClass schedule: Six intensive one-week (30 hr/week) executive sessions in Portland & online education
Length: 2 academic yearsAudience: Working professionals with demanding schedules (USA and International)Format: Participants attend the OIT-Portland campus 1 week in September, 1 week in January, and 1week in April (Thursday-Sunday) for extended sessions to receive intensive instruction on the critical coretopics at the beginning of each quarter, and complete the reminder of the course requirements, projects,and research through online distance learning between residencies.Objective: Enable working professionals to earn a MS in Renewable Energy Engineering (MSREE) fromOIT without taking a break from their careers. Master of Science in Renewable Energy EngineeringIndustry Advisory Board
The Renewable Energy Engineering program's Industrial Advisory Committee provides advice andcounsel in the areas of curriculum content, laboratory resources review, career guidance andplacement activities, program accreditation reviews, and professional development advisement andassistance. In addition, each IAC member serves as a contact for community relations and provides apoint of contact for the development of specific opportunities with industries for students andfaculty. Members of the REE IAC have facilitated graduate placement, provided scholarships,sponsored student projects, provided donations of laboratory equipment, and hired REE graduates.The IAC is the program's conduit to industry, and is a significant contributor to the health andvitality of the REE program.
