The legal medicine update summit which was organised by PPLSSS on 28th of March at Chennai was a grand function. A unique seminar where the former chief Justice of Supreme Court of India Honourable Justice R.C.Lahoti was the chief guest along with Honourable Justice of Madres High Court Justice S.Nagamuthu. It was a grand finale for the outgoing PPLSSS team.

I congratulate that Dr.R.Gunasekaran PPLSSS Chairman, Dr.K.Thangamuthu PPLSSS Secretary, Dr.R.Palanisamy Treasurer, and Dr.T.N.Ravishankar, Dr.N.Muthurajan and others for their contribution.Tree Plantation “Doctors Green Street Project”

All our branches are requested to have tree plantation program. Encourage our members to plant trees in their respective hospitals, streets, towns and also make sure that they are maintained properly and send the report to state office. The tree samplings will be provided by the state office. Awards will be given to those branches for maximum tree plantation and maintenance. IMA TNSB is organising one day seminar on child sexual abuse at zonal level. Each branch should send two members preferably paediatrician or obstetricians for this zonal level meeting. Each doctor will be given a peridium of Rs.500. This is a National level problem, which is very important in order to sensitise the medical fraternity on this burning, hidden social issue. The North zone meeting is on 12th April, South zone meeting is on 19th April and West zone meeting is on 3rd May.Presidents, Secretaries Zonal Level Meeting

We have decided already the presidents, secretaries zone level meeting at each zone. The west zone has conducted at Erode on 15th March 2015 in grand manner and the feedback was excellent. The North zone meeting is at Chennai Tambaram on 5th April 2015. This is very useful program for presidents, secretaries, treasurers and other office bearers. The dates will be announced later for south zone and east zone. Every branch should attend. MOU with Star Health Insurance MOU signed between IMA TNSB-NHB along with Star Health Insurance on 18.03.2015. This is a land mark in the history of our IMA TNSB. That Star Health has come forward to empanel all the hospitals under NHB. They have accepted most of our demands. Computer and communication becomes part of our life. We are going ahead next phase by integrating all the activities, communications by a cloud based platform. This will be an automated response system. Facilitating enrolment of new membership, renewal, alerts and other intimations. Life is a challenge, meet it.

Our medical profession is facing many challenges. Central government is going to allow the Ayush doctors to perform MTP. We should oppose this act. PPLSSS and FSS elections were conducted smoothly and I congratulate the new office bearers. I participated in the local branch presidents and secretaries training program on 15.03.15 at Erode. Dr. Abul hasan west zone vice president arranged the program and I am sure it was very useful to the participants. On the same day I attended the opening ceremony of new IMA building at Pudukottai. The Hon.Health Minister inaugurated the function. Health minister said that he will help in all IMA issues. IMA - TNSB signed MOU with Star Health Insurance on 18.03.15 and with this, smaller hospitals will be benefited. Dr. V. Varadharajan, NHB office bearers, State President and State Secretary took pains to achieve this and I congratulate them. NHB meet and paramedical training program were held at Kancheepuram and were arranged nicely. I inaugurated the Rally for TB Awareness on 24-3-'15, World TB Day and participated in the rally, organized by Vellore IMA branch and Rotaract Club of Vellore. Legal medicine update conference is going to be held on 29.03.15 arranged by PPLSSS and I hope that it will be useful for the members.

Dear colleagues,Greetings.With the summer at its peak,it was a month of exam fever,cricket frolic and the month of our own democratic obligations in the form of PPLSSS and FSS elections.Congrats to all our leaders who will be at the helm of affairs of our two flagship schemes.The spectacular NHB meet at Kanchi with Galaxy of star studded personalities enlightened us in the matters of insurance ,accreditation and more.Congrats to the organising team led by the dedicated Dr P T Saravanan.The training programme for the branch presidents and secretaries of West zone held at Erode too was very useful .With the FSS management committee meeting and the much awaited Legal medicine seminar round the corner ,this month has been a great time of learning fiesta to us all

Governments and activists around the world will commemorate the 20th anniversary yearof the BeijingDeclaration and Platform for Action, an historic roadmap that sets the agenda for realizing women’s rights.

Greetings from NHB TNSB!

Last month has been very active for Nursing Home Board. We have had some good developments

the greatest moment is signing of MoU with Star health insurance. The comprehensive MoU has been signed between IMA NHB and star health

insurance by which all NHB members will be empanelled by star health. Wherever the hospitals are found not fulfilling the standards of empanelment a grace period of 6months will be given to correct the deficiency and make themselves fully eligible. IMA/NHB will help the members to upgrade themselves. We thank state office especially our State President Dr.R.V.S.Surendran, State Secretary Dr.CN.Raja and also Past and Present State office bearers for extending their total co-operation in achieving this. NHB also places on records the co-operation of star health company, its executive director Dr.S.Prakash and its team of officers as well as investors and making this possible.

The next most important event of the month was the 104th NHB meet at Kancheepuram on 22-3-15. More than 230 delegates participated and we had dignitaries like our National president Dr.A. Marthandam pillai, Executive Director of star health Dr.S.Prakash, Chief Executive Officer of NABH Dr.KK. Kalra and last but not the least, our project director of TNHSP Mr.MS. Shanmugam IAS. The government was for the first time represented by team of officials from TNHSP covering major areas of co-operation between IMA and the government. We want to thank the whole team headed by captain Dr.Kamatchi for making the discussion very useful. The IMA state leadership also rose up to the occasion promising the government the fullest co-operation of our IMA for the activities for the government. All this would not have been possible but for the excellent arrangement made by IMA Kancheepuram led by their president Dr.PT.Saravanan, Secretary Dr.Mohankumar, Patron Dr.Jeevanantham and the anchor person Dr. Yoganantham. What more the food was excellent and the hospitality extraordinary. Here again we thank the state office for the fullest support and co-operation.

NHB wants to take up digitalization of medical records and installation of CCTV in all the hospitals as its major project in coming months. We humbly request fullest cooperation of the state office in this regard.

Dear Colleagues ! Greetings !We great all our members on the Eve of the Tamil New year's Day and Wish all of you a successful professional Carrier. IMACGP has almost completed all the courses for the year 2014-15. Examination for all the courses are already completed except Oncology Course which is to be held in the month of April. We found that the participants took the examinations very seriously and attended the examinations with a wholehearted preparation of the subject. In fact I was the supervisor for the Diabetology Theory Examination for Madurai Centre in Madurai IMA on 22nd March at 10 AM. I could see candidates writing the examination in all seriousness with pindrop silence in the hall and returning the answer papers only in the last few minutes of the scheduled time which gave me a great satisfaction. Candidates who appeared for Endocrinology Examination also were equally good and writing the answers till the last minute of the scheduled time. At this juncture, I salute the founding members of this scheme Dr.A.S.Azeem, Dr.M.Balasubramaniam, Dr. (Capt) G. Ragavelu, Dr.T.N.Ravishankar and other senior leaders for their vision and far sightedness.

I would like to congratulate Dr.R.Gunasekaran the immediate Past Chairman, Past Secretary Dr.K.Thangamuthu, Past Legal Committee Chairman Dr.C.Thangamuthu and the Past Treasurer Dr.R.Palanisamy for their untiring efforts for last two years in the service of our association.

The very prompt and sincere work done by the Past Secretary Dr.K.Thangamuthu in conducting management Committee meetings regularly, maintaining the accounts in a transparent manner and sending intimation of renewals of PPLSSS, HPS and FBS has strengthened PPLSSS.

It has been a long cherished dream of Dr.K.Thangamuthu to invite the legal luminary and saviour of our medical profession the Honourable Mr Justice R.C.Lahoti, Former Chief Justice of India and this was fructified last week at the legal medicine update 2015.

This grand event attracted 400 delegates from all over the State and the one day event had packed and very attentive audience throughout the session.

It gave us valuable insight regarding consumer court cases, medico legal aspects and educated us about legal actions when treating patients and about the permissible defences. We shall continue to communicate through our wonderful TIMA newsletter.
