Car Parking and Road Safety I understand how frustrang it can be to arrive at school and not be able to park near the gates (especially when youre running late) but please make sure you park legally and follow the parking restricon signs. It is especially important not to double park in the bike lane to let children in and out of the car. I have seen a number of incidents this year where children have been geng out of a car that is double parked and another car has reversed to get out of the correct parking spot and almost hit the child. Parking inspectors have been patrolling regularly over the last couple of weeks and many parents have been hit with mulple fines. If you park on the other side of the road near the grade 5 rooms, please walk the short distance to use the school crossing and model road safety to the children. Unfortunately, cars come around that bend very quickly and we want to ensure the safety of all of our parents and children. Report Feedback Sessions We would really love to see as many parents as possible at our upcoming report feedback sessions. If youre interested in being part of this discussion, please return your form no later than tomorrow. Easter Hat Parade and Easter Raffle We will be having our annual Easter Hat Parade on Friday 31 st March. That gives you just over 2 weeks for you and your child to work on their hat. We will also draw the Easter Raffle at the parade. Now would be a great me to start sending in donaons for the raffle please. More informaon about the raffle will go home next week. 2018 Informaon Night We will be holding an informaon night on Monday 20 th March at 6:30pm for parents with children starng Prep next year. Car Parking and Road Safety I understand how frustrating it can be to arrive at school and not be able to park near the gates (especially when you’re running late) but please make sure you park legally and follow the parking restriction signs. It is especially important not to double park in the bike lane to let children in and out of the car. I have seen a number of incidents this year where children have been getting out of a car that is double parked and another car has reversed to get out of the correct parking spot and almost hit the child. Easter Hat Parade and Easter Raffle We will be having our annual Easter Hat Parade on Friday 31st March. That gives you just over 2 weeks for you and your child to work on their hat. We will also draw the Easter Raffle at the parade. Now would be a great time to start sending in donations for the raffle please. More information about the raffle will go home next week.

HOT CROSS BUN DRIVE Just a reminder to families that Hot Cross Bun orders are due 9am Monday 20th March!

Thank you to the many families who have already returned them. We appreciate your support of this fundraiser.

SCHOOL NOTES Due to the large amount of notes being lost by students, we are now putting all notices, including our payment envelope on our website

[email protected]

VISUAL ARTS Do you have any old, thick button up shirts at home? If so our visual arts room would love them to use for art smocks. Please leave any shirts you may have at the office. Thank you

HOUSE GROUP T-SHIRTS

Each of our students are assigned a ‘House Group’ either, RED, BLUE, YELLOW or GREEN. During the year the school organises various activities for these house groups and your child is able to wear their House colour. We will be sending out order forms next term if you are interested in purchasing a House T-Shirt for your child/ren. The cost is $12.50.

We LOVE Parent Helpers at AGPS

If you would like to help in the classrooms, you require a Working With Children check and you need to have attended our Parent Helpers Course.

If you have both of those, could you please make contact with your child’s teacher and they will be able to or-ganize a schedule for you. If that is not suitable, contact Rochelle Yates and she will be able to help you.

For any parents who have not yet done our Parent Helpers Course, here is the date for the next one. When: Friday, 5th May Time: 9:15 – 10:15am

Where: Staff Room Please fill out the slip below and return it to school by 3rd May, 2017.

Thank you!

Please return your child’s medication to school and complete the ‘Medication Request Form’ at school as we are unable to supply any medication without written consent. If your child does have asthma, we also require an up to date Asthma Management Plan.

HOUSE KEEPING

CAMPS, SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF) If you have a Health Care Card that is valid on the first day of term (30th January, 2017) you are eligible to apply for the Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund. The CSEF is an annual payment to the school to be used towards camps, sports and/or excursion expenses for your child. If you haven’t already completed the application form, please come into the office with your health care card so we can copy it. This form needs to be completed every year.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED We are looking for 6 volunteers to change the linen on the beds in the first aid room on a Friday afternoon. The clean linen can then be returned some time the following week. If we have 10 volunteers, it would mean that you would only have to wash the linen 4 times a year. We would really appreciate your offer to help. Please leave your name with Jenny in the office or email on [email protected].

CHANGE OF CLOTHES/TELEPHONE NUMBERS Just a reminder for families to put a change of clothes in your child’s school bag. We have limited supplies in sick bay to change children so this would be appreciated. If you have changed your telephone numbers (home/mobile/work) or address could you please advise the office.

ABSENCES & APPOINTMENTS Thank you to our families for contacting the office either by phone or email to advise us of your child’s absence. Most families are doing this which makes it easier to follow up absences. When making appointments could you please try to make them out of school hours as this will stop disruptions to their learning and the class. If your child is not in their classroom, then we are interrupting the whole school’s learning if we need to page them. If you are only able to make an appointment during school hours could you please collect your child just before the breaks at 11:00am or 1:30pm.

EXCURSIONS/CORRESPONDENCE When returning excursion money or notes to school, please have your child hand it to their class room teacher not the front office. Please write your child’s surname on ALL correspondence, as you can appreciate with over 380 students in the school it is difficult to remember every child’s surname and there are also quite a few students with the same first name.

EFTPOS Just a reminder that the minimum amount that can be purchased on eftpos is $20. Any sales under this amount must be paid in cash. Unfortunately we do not have Paypass.

We have been enjoying our time at OSHC, welcoming new children and families to the program. It has been a lot of fun getting to know everyone. We have started to work on a ‘Sea Life’ topic for the week. The children will be creating sea animals, underwater scenes and marine facts to display on the walls for families. We are excited to see progress with our seeds; they have sprouted and began to grow. We proudly planted them into the school garden outside the OSHC room and will continue to care for them. We have a variety of activities on offer daily, these activities are focused to engage the interests of the children and extend on their learning opportunities through play. We have a few words from some of our OSHC children;

At OSHC we have fun activities like lego and tiggy. It’s the perfect cave for anybody. Caleb I like coming to OSHC because they have arts and crafts. It is awesome fun. Ella OSHC is a great place for everyone to come and play and is like no other after school care program. Lachlan I like before care because everyone is nice and I get to play sport and go outside and play. Cooper

Another focus to ensure the safety of the group and introduce emergency procedures to our new children we will be practising evacuations and lock downs. We look forward to providing a fun and engaging OSHC program, encouraging your children’s interests and leading a safe and rewarding experience. Please ensure you have updated all your details and your child’s details on the Camp Australia Parent Portal so we have all the current information to care for your children. Please feel free to provide your ideas or suggestions to us at any time
