MEDITATION OF THE DAY

I think all Christians would agree with me if I said that though Christianity seems at first to be all about morality all about duties and rules and guilt and virtue yet it leads you on out of all that into something beyond One has a glimpse of a country where they do not talk of those things Every one there is filled full with what we should call goodness as a mirror is filled with light ~ CS Lewis

FAVORITE QUOTE To one who has faith no explanation is necessary To one without faith no explanation is possible ~ St Thomas Aquinas

KEY INGREDIENT TO YOUR SUCCESS The power of gratitude should not be overlooked Many times when we dont see immediate results we give up If you start and end the day with gratitude it will positively impact your personal and professional life It is the key ingredient to your success

BACK TO OUR ROOTS The Fourth of July weekend was approaching and Miss Pelham the nursery school teacher took the opportunity to tell her class about patriotism We live in a great country she announced One of the things we should be happy is that in this country we are all free

Trevor who was a little boy in her class came walking up to her from the back of the room He stood with his hands on his hips and said loudly Im not free Im four

A CALL TO PRAYER FOR OUR NATION The United States of America was founded by brave God-fearing people It was built using Judeo-Christian principles and we as a nation need to return to those principles We should not take our country for granted

This is a crucial time to pray for interior conversion so that we as a nation will turn back to God and seek Godrsquos truths once more Because ultimately we cant help our nationndashor other peoplendashif our own hearts are not converted and handed over to God Because God is all loving and has blessed our people in spite of all our transgressions

God has been good to our nation even as we have turned our backs on God The freedoms that we have are a reminder that God desires us to be able to choose freely and to serve God of our own free will out of deep love not fear and guilt

It is time to remember our roots and to give thanks for Godrsquos patience and benevolence to America (reprinted from The Catholic Company 615 East Westinghouse Blvd Charlotte NC 28273)

Wisdom 113-15 223-24 At times the Good News is a message that people will not welcome The ldquogoodrdquo part of such news is that believers are called to face issues that they often avoid contemplating Such is the text of todayrsquos messagemdashits subject is death

2 Corinthians 87 9 13-15 In English the second personal pronoun ldquoyourdquo is the same in both singular and plural In Greek there is a difference In the original text the pronoun is plural meaning that the Paul was addressing the community whose members would be supportive of one another thereby making the community greater than the sum of its parts

Mark 521-43 The two interwoven stories deliver a much richer portrait of Jesus That Mark intended them to play off one another is revealed by the common use of ldquotwelve yearsrdquo - the age of Jairusrsquo daughter and the duration of the hemorrhage - and by the common use of ldquodaughterrdquo as the girlrsquos relationship to Jairus and as Jesus calls the woman
