are ‘legally compliant and sound’ before being submitted for examination by an independent inspector.

There are a range of monitoring documents. The Local Development Scheme sets out the timetable for preparing the Local Plan documents. The Annual Monitoring Report monitors the effects of implementing planning policy. The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the Council’s approach to engaging the community in preparing the Local Plan and in considering planning applications and the ‘Duty-to-Co-operate Statement of Compliance’ sets out how the authority have discussed cross-boundary matters with their neighbouring local authorities.
