A LEGEND OF VELIKO TARNOVO
Long, long time ago in place of Tarnovo lived giants called them zhitove. Tall with beautiful, open faces, they loved peace and quietness It took them a lot of time to make the hills and walls - high, strong and smooth.
After that zhitovete felt very well because the cheeky dwarves who attacked them at night, could not reach them any more. And for the Giants was not hard to climb the cliff. They jumped over the river that surrounded the three sides hill and found themselves up in their strongholds.
One morning… from the northeast appeared some horsemen. Their long spears had ponytails. They were standing and staring for a long time at the hills.
Obviously, thinking about something. Giants also noticed them and started watching them.
- What are those brave men who dare to disturb our peace? - They wondered and felt happy when the mysterious horsemen disappeared into the distance. But their joy was not for long.
Soon the horsemen came back but this time they were with a very strong rider. His helmet and armor glowed in the sun like gold. His black eyes were tossing wildly sparks.
A messenger of the giants came to warn the riders that if they did not return, would die. He relied on his power and acted very baldly. Then one of the horsemen impaled him on his spear and threw him into the river.
The Giants were amazed at the boldness of the young small people and decided to destroy them. From the three hill flew stones that crashed and crashed among the ranks of brave men.
All day the battle was fought... Finally the Giants were defeated. In the evening on the three hills the wind blew a ponytail tied of a long spear.
The next morning, dressed in golden armor, the leader travelled around the hills. The evening moon illuminated his way back to Pliska.
It was Krum - Khan Juvigi. He lived in the 8 century.
From Pliska Krum immediately sent the best artists to the new place to build a fortress, palace and temple of vicar of the great Khan.
Thus arosed Tarnovo .
