Research Questions
Which are the differences in portal usage, if any, from users coming from project countries Vs non-project countries?
How can the answer “feed” further development/enrichment of Organic.Edunet Portal, and its content?
Define
Bounce: Any visit, during which the user views only one page and then “exits” the portal
Non project countries: 140 countries that generated visits to Organic.Edunet Portal but was not part of the consortium
Project countries: The ten (10) EU countries that participated in the Organic.Edunet project

Different Study
Applying Analytics for a Learning Portal: the Organic.Edunet Case Study Studied the portal usage ONLY for project
countries in different periods of time Took advantage of open events in project
countries to see how these affected the portal usage
Compare
Statistics on the portal-level, from September 2010 & April 2011
Visits per day

September 2010 46,9 182 36,9 26,4
April 2011 50,5 230,9 34,7 24,7

April 2011 172,8 61,2
Conclusions
Project countries generated higher traffic to the portal as expected Greece, Estonia, Hungary mainly
Bounces were high in both cases More users coming, more of them leaving
Simple analytics can help in tracking usage of learning portals More in-depth analysis maybe needed
Future
Look at the content accessed in relation to the countries of the users accessing it Serve as a guide for the addition of content in
new languages
Examine social metadata provided on the portal for resources in different languages Characteristics of resources that attract more
attention from users
Future
Interesting to focus on usage of the portal in terms of the languages of the content that is published,
Outcomes from this study will be used in Organic.Lingua, a project that will deploy translation services on the Organic.Edunet metadata
