DurinDuring the last five hundred years religiousthought in Islam has been practically stationary. There was a time when European thought receivedinspiration from the world of Islam. The mostremarkable phenomenon of modern history, however, is the enormous rapidity with which theworld of Islam is spiritually moving towards theWest. There is nothing wrong in this movement, forEuropean culture, on its intellectual side, is only afurther development of some of the mostimportant phases of the culture of Islam. Our onlyfear is that the dazzling culture may arrest our movement and we may fail to reach the trueinwardness of that cultere. (p-6)
