INTRO

With more than thirty years of expertise in Link-Motion Press technology, Kyori’s Knuckle LinkPresses have earned the reputation for highprecision, high performance and ease ofoperation from users all around the world.

Kyori VX presses are variable stroke machinesbased on the ANEX series press with theaddition of a unique variable stroke mechanism.Stroke changes are easily accomplished bychanging the variable stroke link. In addition, VX

presses are revolutionary in that they maintainbottom-dead-center repeatability throughoutthe entire stroke range due to the simplicity ofthe adjustment mechaism.

With the standard Knuckle Link design and LinkMotion, the VX allows for slower, more consistentslide velocity through the work angle andreduced heat generation in the die, resulting inimproved part quality and longer tool life.

STANDARD FEATURESSYMMETRICAL LINK DESIGNThe Knuckle Link Design of the VX Series presseseliminates thermal displacement resulting inprecise bottom-dead-center repeatability. Inaddition, the design contributes to greaterdurability, longer die life and reduced noise andvibration. The uncomplicated design of the VXSeries knuckle link structure has many advantagesover competitors’ machines as described below.

• Link Slide MotionThe Link Slide Motion allows for more time on thebottom of the stroke for better part forming andreduced impact of snap-thru forces which extendspress and die life. The time between re-sharpeningof the dies in an VX Series press is more than 25%greater than that of a conventional crank press.

• Transmission of ForceIn VX Series presses, stamping forces are distributedat the link connection with the majority of the forcebeing transferred to the slide. The force from bothlink connections will be distributed evenly betweenthem and will not be transferred to the crankshaftbearings. Also, any deflection of the horizontalconnection rod will have practically no effect onthe vertical motion.

• Accurate Slide GuidingKyori VX presses use 8-point needle bearings forslide guiding as opposed to competitors’ postguiding systems. Needle bearings are able towithstand a much larger load and the long guideways resist off-center loading. The positioning ofthe guides make them easy to maintain.

• Dynamic BalancerThe Dynamic Balancer feature allows the press tobe operated at full speed with minimal inertialeffect. The balancer weight reciprocates as the slidemoves downward resulting in perfect balancevertically and horizontally with minimal vibration.

• Minimal Shutheight VariationThe VX link mechanism is constructed with greatermass than a conventional crank mechanismcontributing to greater rigidity and strength. Thiscombination of dynamic balancer and greater massresults in minimal dynamic displacement andshutheight variation producing greater bottom-dead-center repeatability.

• Heat Generation and ThermalCancellationThe design of the VX link mechanism allows forsmaller bearings, thus producing less heat withoutsacrificing rigidity or causing overheating of thebearings. As the links heat up, one causes theshutheight to open while the other causes it toclose, cancelling the thermal displacement. Theresult is greater accuracy and BDC repeatability.

STANDARD FEATURES• Cast Iron Frame ConstructionThe VX frame is of class 40 grade cast iron. Thisconstruction provides the compressive strengthand vibration dampening characteristics thatprovide greater die life and part accuracy.

Iron has 2.5 to 4.5 times the dampening capability ofsteel. Therefore, the VX utilizes castings whereapplicable in its beds, crowns and uprights to dampenvibration and noise created in high vibration andsnap-thru applications.

• Combination Air Friction Clutchand Brake Unit

This single unit, combination, single disc clutch andbrake has one moving member engaging the clutchby air pressure or applying the brake by springpressure. Movement from full brake to completeengagement is approximately 1.59 mm assuringquick, controlled stopping at any speed increasingdie life and parts production. Engagement on 360°friction surfaces remains constant throughout thestroke eliminating backlash after stamping and onthe upstroke.

• Reduced NoiseThe reduction of noise is inherent in theconstruction of the knuckle link mechanism used inKyori VX Series presses. The strong shock absorbingbearing structure contributes to the production ofless high frequency noise

• StickingThe knuckle link mechanism never reaches a 180ºcondition which eliminates the possibility of thepress becoming “stuck” on the bottom of the stroke.To eliminate a die jam, motor can be reversed andmicro inched out of the trouble.

• Motorized Slide AdjustmentThe Slide Adjustment on the VX press is driven by aservo motor and the exact shutheight is displayedon the press console and the repeatability is within0.01 mm.

OPTIONAL FEATURES• Production Management SystemThis VX option allows the user to monitor the real timeproduction status of the press from a remote location, suchas an office.

• Load MonitorThis system monitors the load on the die via sensors in thepress uprights and will stop the press in the event of amisfeed, unplanned shutheight variation or die overload.

• Oil Heater/ChillerTo insure accurate bottom-dead-center repeatability, the VXpressses are equipped with lubricant heater/chiller. The unitcan be programmed to heat and circulate the oil prior tooperation. Once the press is in production mode, the oil iscirculated through the chiller to maintain the propertemperature. The temperature is achieved automaticallydetermined by the press SPM.

GX SERIES HIGH PRECISION FEEDS

The GX Series Feed is designed to feedmaterials for ultra-precision and high-speedpress stamping applications. It is especiallysuitable for parts such as narrow pitchconnectors, micro electonic parts andsemiconductor lead frames.

• Feed length is adjustable with a manualhandle and digital display at a resolution of0.01mm and feed length can be adjusted“on the fly.”

• The open-front gripper design allows foreasy material threading and the materialthickness is easily changed with the turn oftwo dials.

• No lubrication contamination due tolocation of material passline.

• The gripper is designed to hold thin platesor plated materials vertically eliminatingdamage so parts are in optimum conditionfor secondary machining.

• The gripper is easily replaceable to facilitatethe shape of the material to be stamped.
