Canada Day Celebrations/Fireworks

Sunday, July 1st, 2018

• Mel Lastman Square

(5100 Yonge Street, Toronto) Celebrate Canada's birthday, with a

free fun-filled evening of live music, dance performances, family activities, and a spectacular musical fireworks show at 10:55pm!

• Scarborough Civic Centre Borough Dr, Scarborough)

o Enjoy the family activity zone and music acts from Taiwanese indie to reggae and South Asian hip hop! Fireworks end the night at 10:55 pm.

• Downsview Park (35 Carl Hall Road, North York) For North York residents, Downsview

Park is your best bet, as it holds its own half-hour fireworks show starting at dusk.

• Humber Bay Park West (2225 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke) The family-friendly event features two

stages of exciting performances the cultures and communities of the Etobicoke area. Fireworks will begin at 10:55 pm.

• East York Canada Day Parade/Stan Wadlow Park

(88 Cosburn Avenue, East York)

The Parade starts at 9:30am at Dieppe Park (just east of Greenwood Ave.) travelling through East York finishing at Stan Wadlow Park. Activities in Stan Wadlow Park begin at 12 noon, followed a fantastic fireworks show at 10:00 pm!

• Thomson Memorial Park (1007 Brimley Rd, Scarborough)

There is lots to see and do! Live entertainment, a pancake breakfast, reptile show, activities for the kids, and more! Parade begins at 4:00pm; Fireworks at 10:00 pm in Milliken Park.

• Weston Lions Park

(2125 Lawrence Ave. W, Toronto)

Birthday celebrations begin at 5pm! The festivities include: live entertainment, food, children’s activities. Fireworks begin 10pm.

• High Park (1873 Bloor St. W, Toronto) There will be children’s activities, live

music, games and fun for all! Don’t forget the High Park Zoo!

Ingredients Baking soda Baking powder Dishwashing liquid soap Directions

1. Mix 2 parts baking soda, 1 part baking powder and 1 part dishwashing soap in a large bowl

2. Stir the mixture with a spoon. Add more baking powder, if it’s too wet

3. Knead the mixture together until it feels sandy and dough-like (not wet)

4. Have FUN!

Grape Popsicles Ingredients

2 cups of seedless green or red grapes Popsicle sticks (optional) Directions

1. Wash your grapes and pat them dry – let them sit for 15 minutes..

2. Place the grapes on a baking sheet, lined with wax paper or in a freezer bag.

• Add popsicle sticks to grapes (optional) 3. Freeze for 4-5 hours or until frozen 4. Enjoy your frozen treat!

1. Start with the water in a bowland add the cornstarch a bit at a time.

2.Keep stirring until it has a gooey consistency.

3.When the oobleck is just right, slowly add food coloring, if you want.

4. Play with it.

English muffin (or Pita) Tomato sauce Cheese (and other pizza toppings optional) Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325 C 2. Cut English Muffins in half and place on a

baking sheet 3. Use a spoon to spread tomato sauce over
