A form of communication in which electronic
messages are created and
transferred between two or more devices
connected to a network.
Mail ServerA Hardware/software system that determines from the recipient’s address one of several electronic routes on which to send the message.
IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol.A protocol for retrieving mail messages from a remote server or messages that are stored on a large local network.
MIME
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension.Protocol that specifies how to encode nontext data, such as graphics and sound, so it can travel across the internet.
Signature
Appears at the bottom of an email message with basic contact information about the sender.
