Characteristics of the Source
Primary or Secondary?

Reliability (or trustworthiness)
Who produced it?
For whom?
Why?
Is there any evidence of bias? (how do you know?)
REMEMBER A SOURCE DOES NOT NEED TO BE RELIABLE TO BE USEFUL - unreliable sources tell us about the attitudes of the people who produced them and consumed them.
Usefulness
What does the source add to our knowledge of the movement? New information? Corroborating existing knowledge? GIVE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES FROM THE SOURCES
What does the source contradict within our existing information? How do we explain this? RELATE IT DIRECTLY TO THE TEXT
