Join us in the school parking lot for some candy and fun.

We will line the cars up in a large circle with the car trunks facing out in the Jackson parking lot. You can decorate your trunk with just a bucket of treats

or with a lot of Halloween decor. It doesn’t need to be elaborate to participate. At 6:00 the drive into the school parking lot will be closed off for safety reasons and we will promptly begin having the kids go around to get treats from all the trunks. After the kids have all gone around once we will meet at the far end of the parking lot for a monster mash and everyone can

show off their ghoulish dance moves.

The Teal Pumpkin Project Teal pumpkins will be placed next to vehicles that are handing out non-food items to let those with food allergies know that the treat is safe for them. Please consider handing out non-food items for those with food allergies.

Friday, October 27th from 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Trunk Treator

This is a great time for the kids to show off their Halloween costumes and have fun with their friends.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, Oct. 24th so that we can give everyone an idea of how many trunk or treaters to expect and for us to

plan on space for cars participating to hand out treats.

JACKSON PTA UPDATES- October 2017

Hello Jackson Families: We wanted to share a updates regarding our PTA and our current NEEDS: What’s been going on? ➢ Non-Fundraising Event- WE NEED YOUR MONEY. It is simple as that. We have a

significant need for money to cover budget items like fieldtrips; teacher classroom supplies; installing new playground equipment. To date we have raised $3,200 and we need to raise $7,000. Last year, we raised over $7,000 through this “no selling, no hassle” format. If we are unable to raise enough money, we will have to cut items for the budget. This may include money for clubs, special events, installing our new playground equipment (coming in THIS MONTH).

➢ Hy-Vee receipts- we need your Hy-Vee receipts each month. Please turn into the office. We need volunteers to help with date entry from home so we can receive the additional funds that Hy-Vee gives to schools.

➢ Volunteers- Service Project day is Oct. 27th. Students will be raking leaves in the neighborhood by Jackson and around the school. Also, we will be supporting a classroom that was affected by the hurricanes this year down south. STAY TUNED for ways to be involved.

➢ Coordinator of FUNDRAISING NEEDED- we need a group of people to spear head our fundraising efforts so that we can maintain our budget and programming for your kids.

➢ HELP- we always need help with various events like conference meals coming up in October. A sign up will be in Thursday Folders for parents to bring in food to feed our teachers.

➢ We are planning for the FUTURE- we will need new officers for 2018-2019 school year. Voting occurs in April. All positions will be open for that year. It is in the best interest of our PTA to have President Elect, VP Elect and Treasurer Elect individuals in order to slowly provide transition (take over PTA board for 2018-2019 school year). If you have an interest in serving, please talk to one of the current officers or email Kim Prevo, [email protected]

Keep an eye on the weekly Thursday Folder email for information. Even a little involvement, goes a long way. Even if you can’t attend meetings, you can still be involved in whatever works for your life. We look forward to seeing you! Sincerely, The Jackson PTA Board 2017-2018 Kim Prevo- President Christi Winders- Vice President Becky Smith – Treasurer Open Secretary Position [email protected] or [email protected]

JACKSON PTA NON FUNDRAISING EVENT Have you ever thought to yourself, “I would love to help fund our school programs, but I don’t want to fundraise!”? Well, this is the program for you! This year, the Jackson PTA would like to focus on NOT fundraising through selling or having a large fundraiser event, so we are

trying an option where we can gain the MOST with NO SELLING or VOLUNTEERS.

This is our “non-event” for 2017-2018. No hassles, and you don’t even have to leave your home. You may choose to participate in this program in lieu of other fundraising activities or in addition to them.

Our fundraising goal this year is to raise $7,000 to cover the cost of a new teacher refrigerator for the teacher lounge; repair the PTA storage shed: purchase some new playground equipment (add to funds from last year); and provide classroom supplies for our teachers. In addition, this year’s fundraising will be used to fulfill the budget needs for this school year.

Money raised by the PTA will help fund additional programs such as field trips, music, art, assemblies and enrichments during the current school year. We will be working on applying for grant funding that will supplement or match our raised funds for the playground equipment, but we could use some help with grant writing.

If you are thinking to yourself, “why can’t we sell items as a fundraiser?” We can, but we need someone to lead this initiative and organize a selling event. Right now, we don’t have volunteers. This is our way of raising funds to fulfill request for various fieldtrips, events, support teachers, and our school!

Please consider participating on a level where you feel comfortable. (The Laughs Are Free!)

_____ I only want to get out of a little work. Hope my $10.00 helps.

_____ Because I don’t have the time or energy to rearrange my cupboards and closets to store all that wrapping paper, I’ll donate $25.00.

_____ My thighs insist that I give a donation of $50.00 for not subjecting them to selling (and eating) cooking dough.

_____ On behalf of my friends, who don’t want to have to go into hiding to avoid my sales pitch, I’m donating $75.00.

_____ My green thumb is brown, and I do not want to spend my weekend planting flower bulbs that I will forget to water. Here is my $100.00.

_____ I didn’t help last year and I feel very guilty about it (I don’t feel guilty, just saying that to make myself feel better). In fact, I don’t plan on helping this year either. So here is $150.00 to forget my name until 2018.

_____ Please accept the enclosed donation of $_________ with my thanks and appreciation for everything the Jackson PTA does for teachers and children.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated! We thank you for supporting the PTA’s efforts to make Jackson Elementary School a quality school for all of our children.
