Why a Thanksgiving Movie?Thanksgiving is about way more than just the

turkey... it's about FAMILY. Thanksgiving isan intercultural holiday that reflects the

reality of the American cultural landscape.Across both sacred and secularcultures ofall

kinds, eating with others is a sign of unity.

We believe more Americans travel to be withfamily at Thanksgiving than any other holiday,

i n c l u d i n g C h r i s t m a s . I t u s h e r s i n t h eChristmas holiday where its all about giving,

this holiday begins with giving thanks.

Thanksgiving dinner is by far the mostimportantmeal of the year, forAmericans. In

our opinion, it's the only holiday in theseason that everyone celebrates with a sense

of reverence accompanied with a subtle truce

to all forms of divisiveness. There is noreligious affiliation with it nor is there a

strong push for paganism and commercialism.This is the only holiday out of the entire

year that everyone has the singular personal

goal...peace.

Mrs.Steven’s brotherGary,aka Uncle Googles (he’s awalking encyclopedia of useless information) is amainstayateveryholidayfeastandthisThanksgivingisno exception. He’s the Big Gulp, armchair Footballwatchingfamilymembereveryoneseemstohave.Heshowsuptothehouseadayearlywithoutannouncementastowhy. Then there’s Loretta, Mr. Steven’s mom and theimpossiblyhardto pleasemother-in-lawwho’sresentfultoward Mrs. Stevens.She’sa lonelywidowand aclosetkleptomaniac.Tommyisnervous.Hepacesandpractices,preparingandproposingand cringing ateachinstance.Mr. Stevenisanxious.Heswitchesandsneaks,smugglingandstashingthe wedding ring from one hiding place to the next.Tommy is also worried about Grandma’s sticky fingers.She’s a well-known family sneak thief. Mr. Stevens isalsoworriedaboutthisfactandfinallydecidestomovehis very expensive ring from his top dresser to underhis bed. Loretta would never look under his bed.Likewise,Tommyhideshisverymodestringfromhisroomto his father’s top dresser. Grandma would never lookthroughdad’sdresser.Asithappens,it’sMrs.Stevensthatfindstheringandnottheoneunderthebedmeantforher,buttheoneinthetopdressermeantforAmy.And she’s furious. Furious that after 20 years, she’sgettingaringthatisworsethantheoneshefirstgot.Flabbergasted, she pockets the ring in her favoritesweatpantsandforgetfullytossesittothefloor. Asluckwouldhaveit,LuckythefamilydogfindsMr.Steven’sring underhisbed.Whatan amazingbrand new toy, but only until he loses interest,droppingitsomewhereinTommy’sroom.

WillistellsTiffanyheknowswhysheissohormonalandthathe’s the father. It becomes a war of words between them.Finally,Amyrevealssheistheonethat’spregnantandWillisisrelieved. Overhearing Mr. Steven’s conversation about love andfamily, Loretta finally confesses her resentment; an unfairtransferenceofthepainoflosingherhusbandjustbeforethejoyof givingher sonawayonhis wedding dayhadsince leftherwithaninternalizedconflictedjealousy.She'salwayshadnothingbut love forher family,but hergo-todiversion forthis internal conflict frequently targeted her daughter-in-law.LorettaandMrs.Steven’sfinallyhugitout,signalingabreakthroughtoadeeperconnection.Inahousefulloftensionandnerves,anoverwhelmedAmyfinally divulges that she is pregnantwith the whole family.Everyone is astonished. Tommy is blindsided and besidehimself.Inonehand,apregnantgirlfriend;Intheother,anemptyengagementbox.Butbeforehecanact... Hisfatherdecidesnowisagoodatimetogetdownonone knee to fulfill his promise with a bigger diamond ring.BLING! When Amyarrivessherevealsto Tiffanythatshethinkssheispregnantandisscaredofbeingsoyoungandstillincollege.Theygotothenearestdrugstoretobuyapregnancytesttoconfirm.Thewholedayiscompletelyuncomfortable. When Tommygoes back to look forthe ring, it’smissing.Hefuriouslysearchesforiteverywhere.Whatwassupposed to be the most important day of his life, isturningintotheworst.Tohischagrin,it’sTiffanythatfinally finds the ring box under his bed. But when sheshowshimthebox,herealizestheringheboughtisstillmissingbecausethat'sthefather'snewring.Tommyhasnoidea his ring is really sitting in his mother’ssweatpants. Willis overhears Amy telling Tiffany about herpregnancy. Assuming Tiffany is the one who is pregnant,Willis’srevertstohisnewstressmanagementtechniquebyeatingfat-freedonuts.Asanxietyandtensionmixintheturkeydayair,Mr. Stevensdecidesto start anice calming fire inthefireplace. But Lucky the dog has other plans. With apenchant for chewing on Mrs. Stevens’ strewn aboutclothes, he enters the living room with her sweatpants.Quick to act to save her favorite pants, Mr. Stevensdeclaresatug-of-warwithLuckyoverthefireplace.TommynoticesHISringboxfallingoutofthepocketbutbeforehe canrescue the ring, it falls into the fire with nochanceofrecovery.Thisisnowofficiallytheworstdayof his life, despite his parent’s consolation. Tommyspills the beans on hisplans due to everything runningamok.His parents assurehim that love isnot aboutthesizeofthediamondinthering,it’s aboutthesizeofthediamondinyourheart.

TiffanySheisthesassylittlesisterthatislovablebut gets on your nerves. She is very closewithherolderbrother,Tommybuthasnothingbutdisdainforhis bestfriend, Willis. Donotbefooleditisallafront.TiffanyandWillishavebeendatingforthepasttwoyearsbutdecidedtokeepitasecretfromtherestofthefamily. Theymaskitwellbyhurlinginsultseverychance theyget. Tommyalwayshastoruninterferencebetweenthemtwo.Sheis also a comfort to Amy when she finds outsheispregnant.Sheisexcitedtobeanauntyand does her best to keep it secret fromTommy. Willis incidentally overhears this andassumesTiffanyistheonethatispregnant.

Wil lisHeisanoverweightgluttonwholovestocrackjokes. WillisisTommy’sbestfriend. EveryThanksgivingWillismakesithisbusinesstobeatTommy’shouse. Helovestoeat. Helovesfood. He is always trading insults withTiffany and Googles, Tommy’s uncle. Willislikes Tiffany alotbutistooscared to tellanyone thinking he will not be accepted.Tiffanylikeshimjustthewayheis. Hemaynot bethesharpest pen intheboxbuthe isvery loyal to Tommy. He overhears aconversation between Amy and Tiffany andassumes Tiffany is pregnant. This freaks himouttheentiredayandhebeginstoactfunnytowardsher.

Uncle “Googles” He is informative, wise, and witty. He nevermisses an opportunity to trade jabs withWillis.ThisishowhimandWillisbond.UncleGary, better known as Googles has a vaststatistical knowledge exactly like anencyclopedia. ThisisTasha’sbrother. He isnever short on words. Googles regurgitatesfacts all thetime. He loves to eatjust asmuchasWillis. Heistheunclethatyoucanonly stand to be around once a year and nomore. He has found himself on hard times andhismother’shouseisnowinforeclosurebuthekeeps it a secret from the family. But Mr.Stevensoffershimtostayinthehousebecauseof course he is family. He has a familyheirloom engagement ring that he passes on toTommy because he never had the opportunity tomeetsomeonetomarry.

Tasha Stevens

The patriarch of the familywho is a hopelessromantic. HeisCaucasian.Hehasbeenhappilymarriedto his wife for at least twenty yearsand they still act like every day is ananniversary.Hestillknowshowtokeepasmileon her face after all this time. He holdsThanksgivinginhighregardbecauseheproposedtohis wife on thatday. His mother, Lorettawas not too happy about it because that sameyearhisfatherhadpassedawayandTashastoletheonlymanshehad left. He trieshis bestnottotakesidesasheplayspeacemakerbetweenthem.Hisson,Tommyadmireshimandmirrorshisactions. Like father, like son. Jackson andTashahavecutepetnamesforeachother, mamabearandpapabear.

She is warm and friendly. Tasha is thekindest person you could ever meet but shehasabreakingpointwithhermotherinlaw,Loretta. SheisAfrican-American.Sheholdsthefamilytogetherasbestasshecan. Sheisvery much inlove with her husband eversince thedayshe met him.Her heart stilllightsupeveryThanksgivingrememberinghowshewasproposedto. Sheisalwaysatawarofwords withhermother-in-law, whoisnotveryacceptingofher. Shehasenoughclasstoignore her quips butdo notpush tothelimit.ShelovestocookforherfamilyandWilliswhoalwaysaskherforaspecialdishevery Thanksgiving. Family togetherness iswhatsheholdsdearinherheart.

She is a sweet old grandmother but isimpolite with Tasha at times. She is abit of a klepto. This is Tommy’sgrandmother.Shelovesherfamilydearlybut feels abandoned by them since shelives far away and they never reallyvisit.SheisnotfondofTashabecauseshe feels she stole Jackson from herafterherhusbandhadpassed. Shewantstobeclosertoherbutdoesnotknowhowto connect to Tasha. Every year thefamily hides their personal possessionsinfearof herstealingthem. Butshedoesthisonlytokeepmementos of themsincesheseesthemsorarely.
