PREFACE

This book is dedicated to all who want to know who JESUS is, to those who want to have a deeper and personal relationship with Him - our Creator, Savior and Comforter.

“9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

COLOSSIANS 2:9-10 (KJV)

I am grateful to the ministers and workers of our church, the Christ-Centered Faith Christian Ministry Philippines Inc. who have inspired me to write and come up with these lessons. Their insatiable hunger for truth which they know will set us free brought this Doctrinal Biblical Study (DBS) into life. I thank God, most of all for the privilege of sharing the Truth with you.

In the search for truth and knowledge there is no other best source except the Bible. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, giving a true history of the creation of heaven, earth, and humanity and containing a correct prophecy of the ages to come regarding heaven, earth, and the destiny of humanity. Moreover, there is no salvation outside of what is taught in its pages.

“16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,

correcting and training in righteousness,”

II Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

“20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets,

though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

II Peter 1:20-21(NIV)

WHAT IS DOCTRINAL BIBLICAL STUDY OR DBS?

A study of RULES and PRINCIPLES that forms the basis of FAITH, BELIEF, or POLICY based on the SCRIPTURE.

“15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker

who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

II Timothy 2:15 (NIV)

WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF DBS?

1. To Deliver the right kind of faith.2. To Break down false doctrine.3. To Stand up for what is right.

I. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DOCTRINE CONCERNING THE NATURE OF GOD IN THE EARLY CENTURIES OF CHRISTIANITY

Christianity inherited the Monotheism of Israel, and through the teachings of Jesus, the apostles, and the Scriptures claimed that Jesus was the God of Israel who was manifested in the flesh, received up into Glory, and who came as the Holy Spirit. The doctrine was preached everywhere, and was the dominant doctrine on the Godhead during the first three centuries.Christian Philosophers united the concepts of Judaism, Greek Philosophy, and Christianity to form a Logos-Christology doctrine that believed in the PRE-EXISTENCE OF THE SON OF GOD incarnate in Jesus Christ but denied the divinity of Jesus .

Hippolytus, a strong advocate of the Logos-Christology doctrine, vigorously opposed the Apostolic doctrine that God is ONE in three manifestations (later called "Modal Monarchianism"). Sabellius, the leading defender of Monarchianism(Sabellianism), was excommunicated in 217 by the Bishop of Rome, who devised a compromise doctrine.Tertullian(about 210 AD) developed and defined the doctrine of Logos-Christology as three persons in a Trinity, but one God, in which Jesus was subordinate to the Father. And yet, he used the legal Latin term for "persons" meaning "manifestations" or "masks," rather than "personalities." The Holy Spirit was said to proceed from the Father, through the Son.

Saint Augustine, a century later, developed this teaching into a doctrine of the Trinity, in which all three persons were separate personalities, all co-equal and co-eternal. While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival factions together, two splits had developed: (1) Some Monarchians had been influenced by Logos- Christology until a Monarchian developed in which Jesus was said to be without Deity until His baptism. This group, known as

P a g e | 5

Dynamic Monarchianism, never became large, percentage-wise. (2) Many Logos-Christology disciples instead of following the evolution to Trinitarianism, led by Tertullian, Athanasius and Augustine, joined themselves to Arius. Arius swallowed some Monarchianism, some theories of Origen, and invented some of his own -- all of which he built upon the Logos-Christology foundation. This doctrine, called Arianism, taught that Christ was human, created by God out of nothing, and made into a lower god.The Emperor Constantine ordered a council at Nicea to resolve the difference in theology on the Godhead in 325 AD. This council developed into a heated battle that ended in a victory for the Trinitarians. The Trinitarian position was then strengthened by a new Nicean Creed that was carefully worded to prohibit any Arianism or Monarchianism (then called Sabellianism) and to strengthen the Trinitarian conceptions. No other views were allowed.

Arianism was not dead, however, and continued to reappear (several times as victors, banishing Trinitarian Bishops) until the reign of Theodosius. Monarchianism never again became predominant in the West, but the scriptural teaching of one God in three manifestations has reappeared many times in many generations, and exists even today in numbers in the hundreds of thousands.

In 381, the Nicean Creed was again modified to include the consubstantiality of the Holy Spirit in the doctrine of the Trinity, and to assert the pre-existence of the Son of God. This belief, adopted by the General Council in 451 as a dogma, is the "Nicean Creed" of today, which we call the "doctrine of the Trinity."

When the Apostolic Age(30 to 90 AD) closed, the doctrine of Logos-Christology, Arianism and the Trinity were not yet invented or developed. At

the end of the first century the Christian world believed that the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit were manifestations of one person: God.

The Protestant churches for the most part inherited the doctrines of Catholicism, and although Luther and other reformers took up the cry "back to the Bible," none of them found their way completely back to the Apostolic doctrines. Traditions are difficult to overturn; especially if they are tied in with religion -- and especially if the tradition is "said" to be both biblical and essential. This is even more true if the doctrine is claimed to be a mystery that can't be understood, is not rational, and yet must be believed without question. Such is the doctrine of the Trinity..

“Although by the end of the fourth century trinitarianism was solidly established and triumphant, the existence of the Bible and the illumination of the Holy Spirit ensured that the Oneness message would not die completely. Throughout subsequent centuries, Oneness concepts and baptism in the name of Jesus continued to surface. In the twentieth century, the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit has ushered in a renewed understanding of the biblical message of the absolute oneness of God and the absolute deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. “- David Bernard

II. ONENESS and TRINITY

Oneness believers affirm that there is only ONE GOD indivisible God.

“4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is ONE. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all

your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.” – Deuteronomy 6:4-6

These passages are reminding the children of God not to forget the prime commandment which is to know that GOD is ONE. This commandment according to Isaiah must be kept in their hearts for life. In the book of Mark 12:29, Jesus Christ in His earthly ministry emphasized the importance of God’s oneness when He quoted this verse in front of the teachers of the Law who were asking what is the greatest commandment, Jesus said “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is ONE.”

The ONE who is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. The ONE who has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father in Creation, as the Son in Redemption, and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit) in Regeneration.

Trinitarian doctrine believes that there is One God in Three Persons. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit which can be interpreted that there are three Gods. The problem here is, who among these three is the One True God because they also claim that they believe in One God. Take a look at the following diagrams which show the explanation of these two theologies of Godhead.

ONENESS and TRINITY

The Trinity explained: (Refer to Figure 1 above)1) There is only one God.2) The Father is God. – 1ST PERSON3) The Son is God. – 2ND PERSON4) The Holy Spirit is a Person who is God. – 3RD PERSON5) The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are distinct from each other.

1) within the one Being or essence of God, there eternally exists three distinct yet equal Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

2) in the full Deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ. These two distinct natures, perfect deity and perfect humanity, are inseparably united in the one Person.

3) in the full Deity and full personality of the Holy Spirit and in His work in regeneration and sanctification.

Now, take a look at Figure 2 above where Oneness is explained.

There is only ONE GOD (JESUS). Deut. 6:4. Isaiah 9:6, 1 John 5:20AS:

1) The Father in Creation – Creator (Isaiah 43:15, Isaiah 64:8; Malachi 2:10)Father God is a Spirit (John 4:24). He is the Eternal One, the Creator of all things, and the Father of all humanity by creation. He is the First and the Last, and beside Him there is no God (Isaiah 44:6).There was no God formed before Him; neither shall there be after Him (Isaiah 43:10).

2) The Son in Redemption - Redeemer/Savior (Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 1:21-23)

It is very clear that Jesus is the Son of God according to the flesh (Romans 1:3) and the very God Himself according to the Spirit (Matthew 1:23). Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:16); the creator

Page 10: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

of all things (Colossians 1:16-17); God with us (Matthew 1:23); God made flesh (John 1:1-14); God manifested in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16);He which was, which is, and which is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8);the mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6).Jesus Himself testified of His identity as God when He said, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (John 14:7-11) and "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30).It took shedding of blood for the remission of the sins of the world (Hebrews 9:22), but God the Father was a Spirit and had no blood to shed. Thus He prepared a body of flesh and blood (Hebrews 10:5)and came to earth as a man in order to save us, for in Isaiah 43:11 He said, "Beside me there is no Saviour." When He came in flesh the angels sang, “For in Him dwelleth the fullness of Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9).

3) The Holy Spirit in Regeneration – Indwelling Spirit of God (John 14:16-26; Romans 8:9-11)The Holy Ghost/Spirit is not a third person in the Godhead, but rather he Spirit of God (the Creator), the Spirit of the resurrected Christ. The Holy Ghost comes to dwell in the hearts and lives of everyone who believes and obeys the gospel, as the comforter, Sustainer, and keeper.

(John 14:16-26; Romans 8:9-11)

Furthermore, the figure below will give us concrete explanation on who God is. Jesus Christ is the same God in the Old and New Testament. “In

III. ISSUES CONCERNING THE ONENESS OF GOD

Is the Trinity revealed in the Old Testament? What about verses like Gen 1:26, 3:22, Gen 11:7 and even Isa 6:8 that showed a trinity of persons before the New Testament? They read, "And the Lord God said, Behold the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil:..." (Gen. 3:22), "...let US go down, and there confound their language..." (Gen. 11:7) and “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me'" (Isaiah 6:8).

A. THE PLURALITY OF GODThe issue on the plurality of God can be explained by the following principles.

Principle No. 1No single text of the Bible can contradict the general truth of the Bible.

What is the general truth of the Bible?

God is one, alone in creation, there is no other deity beside Him.

There are over 10,000 Bible texts that either implicitly or explicitly declare the absolute, solitary Oneness of God.

Implicit texts declare that God is a solitary one by the use of singular pronouns, verbs, and adjectives when referring to God Almighty.

Page 13: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 13

Examples:

1. Gen. 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

2. 1 Kings 11:33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth...

3. Ezekiel 13: 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.

Explicit texts clearly state that God is One and alone in His reign.

Examples:

1. Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD (cf. Mark 12:29).

2. Job 9:8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

3. Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer (referring to Jacob) the LORD of hosts; I am the first and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

4. Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.

5. Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?6. Mark 12:28-31 And one of the scribes.....asked him, Which is the first

(most important) commandment of all. And Jesus answered him, The first (most important) of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:....See Deuteronomy 6:4.

P a g e | 14

7. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and man.

8. James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Principle No 2. Verses that are difficult to understand must be interpreted in the light of those verses more easily understood.

There are less than 10 verses in the Bible that are misunderstood because they are not properly interpreted.

They are:

1. Genesis. 1:26 Let us make man in our image.2. Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become

as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

3. Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

4. Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

5. Matthew. 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Page 15: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 15

6. II Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

7. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are One.

The verses above can be difficult understand if approached without a firm understanding of God's personality a presented in the rest of the Bible.

Does the Bible contradict itself?

If the Bible cannot, and does not contradict itself, we must interpret these verses by looking at verses which are more easily understood. We must look at the 10,000 verses that declare the simple truth of God's Oneness to help us gain an understanding of the fewer difficult verses.

If God is "ONE" then what does the "us" mean? If God is speaking, Who is He speaking to? When you speak, you speak in one of two directions.

Page 16: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 16

Four major theories have been proposed to explain this plural usage in reference to God in Genesis 1:26.

1.The first theory claims that God counseled with His own will, or deliberated within His mind as to what He would do. This is based primarily on Ephesians 1:11 where it is said that God works "all things after the counsel of his own will." God is compared to a human that reasons in his mind saying something like, "Let me see...." This view does not seem to be correct when the Hebrew grammar of these verses are examined more carefully. The grammar indicates that God was speaking to somebody besides Himself.

2.The second theory is that the plural pronouns are used as a "majestic plural." This type of language was typically used by royalty, but not exclusively. Biblical examples include Daniel's statement to Nebuchadnezzar, "We will tell the interpretation thereof before the king" (Daniel 2:36). Daniel, however, was the only one who gave the king the interpretation of his dream. King Artaxerxes wrote in a letter, "The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me" (Ezra 4:18). The letter was sent to Artaxerxes alone (Ezra 4:11), yet he said it was sent to "us," and was read before "me." Clearly the letter was only sent to, and read to Artaxerxes. When Artaxerxes penned another letter to Ezra he used the first person singular pronoun "I" in one place and the first person plural pronoun "we" in another (Ezra 7:13, 24).

3.The third theory explains these passages by saying that although not present physically in the flesh at these times, God spoke to Jesus in a prophetic manner, having foreknowledge of His future arrival. It is reasoned that since God calls those things which are not as though they were (Romans 4:17), He spoke to the Son even though He was not

Page 17: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 17

physically present. God could do so because He does not live in time as we do, and does not view time as we do (II Peter 3:8). The Son was present in the mind of God as the Word (John 1:1). In defense of this I Peter 1:19-20 and Revelation 13:8 are cited which show that the incarnation and crucifixion were always in the plan and mind of God.

4.The Fourth theory - It appears that God was speaking to angels in these passages. The grammar of these verses support this view. The grammar of Genesis 1:26 is as follows: God (plural)2 said (third person masculine singular), Let us make (first person common plural) man (singular masculine noun) in our image ("image" is a first person common plural suffix), after our likeness ("likeness" is a feminine singular noun with a first person common plural suffix)."3 The plural pronouns "us" and "our" must be referring to someone other than God because the verb used in connection with "God" is singular. If God was speaking to Himself in a plural form, or performing self-talk as some say, the pronouns would also need to be singular to modify the verb. Because the pronouns are plural in form, God was truly speaking to someone else.

Two objections might occur at this point:

1. How could angels be said to have an image or likeness to God?;

2. How could angels help God create man?

In response to the first objection, it seems best to see the "image" in which man was created to be one of moral, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional qualities rather than any physical qualities or similarities. God and angels both possess all of these attributes that men have. Sometimes we view angels as android beings created by God that have no choice but to serve Him in holiness and righteousness, being emotionless, and have no way of thinking for themselves. This is an unbiblical view. Peter said angels are interested in the activities of the

Page 18: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 18

church when he said concerning the gospel being preached with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, "which things the angels desire to look into" (I Peter 1:12). We see from this verse that angels do have a will of their own by the fact that they desire to look into these things. God does not command them to do this, but they have a desire to do so. This indicates that angels have an emotional spectrum and intellectual independence. They have spiritual qualities in that they worship God and moral qualities in that they choose to stay pure.

Because angels could not actually create man, it might be wondered why God even bothered speaking to them concerning man. The reason might be two-fold. First of all, God might have addressed them in a courteous manner because of their intimate presence at this amazing time. Secondly, He addressed them to declare His intentions of making man in their image as well as His: a moral, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional image. After God allowed the angels to participate in the making of man, He created in him a living soul which possessed this image of God and of the angels.

It seems best to understand the plural references in Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7, and Isaiah 6:8 to be referring to angels whom the Lord addressed. Although not beyond the realm of possibility, the first three theories do not carry enough Biblical or grammatical support to be considered valid explanations.

B. THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD

When we speak of the right hand of God, we are not talking of a physical right hand. The right hand (dexios) of God always denotes the power or authority of God.

The term at the right hand of God points to his exalted position he now is active on. There is numerous things that need to be considered to

Page 19: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

P a g e | 19

understand this phrase. The phrase right hand is a metaphor, God exercises his authority by his right hand.

Please read through these references ...

Psalm 16:8 "I have set Jehovah always before me: for He is at my right hand; [therefor] I shall not be shaken"

Psalm 77:10 "And I said this is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High".

Isa 48:13 "Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together"

Isa 62:8 "The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies: and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured"

Ex 15:6 "Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy."

Consider this wonderful preview of the savior to come ...

Psalm 80:17 "Let thine hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man who thou madest strong for thyself"

Psalm 98:1 "O sing unto the LORD a new song: for He hath done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have gotten him the victory"

Psalm 44:3 "For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favor unto them."

Psalm 20:6 "Now I know that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven by the saving strength of his right hand."

Matthew 26:64 "Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: Nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

Mark 16:19 "So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God".

Acts 5:31 "Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a prince and a savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins"

Hebrews 10:12 "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God:"

Romans 8:34 "Who is he that condemneth ? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

Hebrews 8:1 "NOW of the thins which we have spoken this is the sum: we have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens;"

1 Peter 3:22 "Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God: Angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him."

Hebrews 1:3 "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when He had

Page 20: memberfiles.freewebs.commemberfiles.freewebs.com/.../1_DBS_ONEGOD.docx  · Web viewThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, ... While this compromise doctrine was cementing two rival

by himself purged our sins and sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high"

Revelation 5:1 "And I saw in the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne a book written within an on the back side, sealed with seven seals"

Jesus has all power and authority Matt. 26:64 - Matt. 28:18. If he has all power, what is it that he doesn't have. The revealed glory of God is in Jesus Christ.

 C. THE BAPTISM OF JESUS - Jesus, the Voice, and the Dove

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:16-17; See also Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, and John 1:32-34).

The baptism of Christ does not indicate a plurality in the Godhead. The dove was only a representation of God's Spirit for John to see. When the Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus, John saw a symbol of God's Spirit, not a person of the Godhead. The voice from heaven does not indicate that Jesus was a separate person from God either, but demonstrates the fact that God still existed as the omnipresent Spirit in heaven even after the incarnation. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh, and as such was willingly limited by the incarnation as it pertains to where His presence could be at any given time. To claim that the voice from heaven, or the appearance of the dove indicate a plurality in the Godhead is not warranted. This passage only demonstrates the omnipresence of God, and the relationship between the Father and the Son as it pertains to the incarnation.

D. DID JESUS PRAY TO HIMSELF?

No, not when we understand that Jesus was both God and man. In His deity Jesus did not pray, for God does not need to pray to anyone. As a man, Jesus

prayed to God, not to his humanity . He did not pray to Himself as humanity, but to the one true God, to the same God who dwelled in His humanity and who also inhabits the universe. No further explanation is given, and none is needed. Does Jesus pray now since his exaltation ? The answer is no. He prayed in the days of His flesh (Hebrews 5:7). The work of the mediation was finished through His death on the cross at Calvary (Hebrews 9:14-15). There is no more sacrifice for sins, for once and for all time His blood was shed for the remission of sins (Hebrews 10:12). Unlike the Old Testament priests, he does not continually offer sacrifices for sins. There is no more offering, but there remains remission of sins for those who repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:18, Acts 2:38). His present role as intercessor consists not only of daily prayers but the application of the benefit of the cross to our lives (Romans 8:34; 1 John 1:7-9; 2:1-2).

E. 3 BEARS WITNESS IN HEAVEN

7 For there are three that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. – 1 John 5:7-8

These verses say nothing about three persons in one God. It says about the agreement which means that we have received the three promises or covenant for the salvation of humanity. Like all other scriptures presented to allegedly support the doctrine of the trinity, the trinitarian idea has to be assumed, added to, and read into what is stated. Even as it appears in the Textus Receptus (received text)– the original English translation, there is no reference at all to the trinity dogma. If you continue to read 1 John 5 you will discover and understand that Jesus Christ is the True God and eternal life. “ 20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who

is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” - 1 John 5:20.
