Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 The Dred Scott Decision John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry

Dred Scott an enslaved man sued for his freedom after his slaveholder died. The Supreme Court ruled that African Americans whether free or slaves were not considered citizens of the U.S., and therefore had no right to sue in Federal Court.
