Immersion is undoubtedly the most important decision one can make on

this earth. Because our future is determined by it, we should be alert to all

its conditions and significance. In the following study we will seek a

deeper meaning of immersion according to YaHuWaH’s word. We should

comprehend what immersion accomplishes and seek to ensure our

immersion is approved by YaHuWaH. Furthermore, we should know what

to expect upon being immersed, for it is the foundation-stone of the

promised salvation given us through our Savior YaHuWSCHuA.

Page 4: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

From time to time we all have realized how far we have fallen from the

high expectations of YaHuWaH’s word, and felt we were the lost

generation much like those Kepha was preaching to. When the Jews in

Acts chapter two realized it was their sins which put the Savior to death,

they asked,

"What can we do?"

Acts 2:38-39

Kepha said to them, “Repent and be immersed, every one of you, in the

Name of the Master YaHuWaH- YaHuWSCHuA haMaSHiYaCH for the

washing away of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruwach

HaQodesh. For the promise is to you (the near ones), and to your

children, and to all those are far off, even as many as YaHuWaH our

Aluahiym may call to Himself.”

With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save

yourselves from this perverse stock!”

Immersion in the Only Name

Most immersions done throughout churchanity are done according to

Matthew 28:19,

"In the name of the Father, Son and Ruwach HaQodesh."

However, not one of these is a name, but only a title. There are many

"fathers" on this earth, and all of us have a human father. Fathers are also

sons, as are all males. The Ruwach HaQodesh is the power emanating

from YAHUWAH, and shared by the Son. A number of scholars believe this

verse is spurious, including the Catholic Jerusalem Bible.

Other church groups baptize in the name of "Jesus," a meaningless name

by which the Savior was never called in His life. It certainly is improper to

be immersed into a name that did not exist until about the time of

Columbus when the letter J came into being. We have restored the name

Page 5: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

YaHuWSCHuA which was given Him directly from the Heavens. It is the

same as "Yahuwshua" in the King James. The name "Jesus" is a hybrid

from the Latin and Greek

Immersions in the book of Acts were done in the name of the Savior

YaHuWSCHuA, not Jesus. The Bible clearly tells us that salvation is in the

name of YaHuWSCHuA only;

Acts 4:12

And there is not deliverance by another man for there is not another

Name under heaven which is given to men by which we must be saved.

Why are we making so much of a proper immersion? As already

mentioned above, immersion is the most important event in your life!

Immersion has a bearing upon what you will be doing until the Savior

returns and where you will spend eternity.

Immersion is the doorway to everlasting eternity and to a life that is out

of this world.

All the promises made to Abraham and his Seed culminate in the person

of YaHuWSCHuA HaMaSHiYaCH

.

It is through Him that we have this present life, plus the greater promises

in the life yet to come. Paul himself stated all the promises made to

Abraham come only through YaHuWSCHuA.

Upon immersion into YaHuWSCHuA name we become a part of His body

and are then partakers of those promises;

Galatians 3:16

YaHuWaH gave the promise to Abraham and his Seed. And notice that it

doesn't say the promise was to his seeds, as if it meant many

descendants. But the promise was to his Seed--and that, of course,

means haMashiyach.

The Savior’s Example

YaHuWSCHuA came to be immersed by Yahuwchanan the Immerser.

Page 6: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

In those days, Yahuwchanan (YaHuWaH's Favor) the ritual Immerser was

called; and he cried in the wilderness of Yahuwdah, saying,

Ritual immersion (twilah) is used on many occasions to signify a change in

spiritual status, most commonly when ending a period of ritual

uncleanness to again be eligible to participate in the Miqdash services. A

complete immersion, even of the hair, is required in order to correctly

present a picture of death and resurrection to a new status. The one who

administers it does not physically immerse the person, but acts as a

witness that the person has immersed himself properly and fully.

Yahuwchanan felt he himself should be the one to be immersed and

questioned why the Savior deemed His own immersion was necessary. His

reply was to fulfill all righteousness and for an example to us!

Yahuwchanan 3:13

Then YaHuWSCHuA came from Galiyl to the Yarden to Yahuwchanan, to

be immersed of him.

Fitting: Heb., an obligation. YaHuWaH had commanded that a priest had

to wash before beginning his service. YaHuWSCHuA was the right age to

begin His service

Num. 4:3

from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all who enter

into the service, to do the work in the Tent of Meeting.

as the High Priest after the order of Melekiy-Tsedeq

Teh 110:4

YaHuWaH has sworn, and will not change His mind:

“You are a Priest into the Ages in the order of Melekiy-Tsedeq.”

He nowhere commanded immersion as such, but YaHuWSCHuA identifies

it with righteousness, possibly because it represented what YaHuWaH had

done to restore the earth’s balance during Noah’s deluge. Us:

Yahuwchanan and YaHuWSCHuA together.

Righteousness:

put more simply, doing what is right.

Yahuwchanan 3:14

Page 7: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

But Yahuwchanan tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be immersed

by you, and you come to me?”

Yahuwchanan 3:15

But YaHuWSCHuA, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the

fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed it.

Yahuwchanan 3:16

YaHuWSCHuA, when He was immersed, went up directly from the water:

and behold, the shamayim were opened to him [Yahuwchanan], and he

saw the Ruwach HaQodesh of YaHuWaH descending as the likeness of a

dove, and rested upon YaHuWSCHuA.

Notice that YaHuWSCHuA immersion is an example that we might follow in

His footsteps. Because He submitted to being immersed, so we should

also be immersed. It was at this time the Ruwach HaQodesh descended

upon YaHuWSCHuA. Being now filled with the Ruwach HaQodesh,

YaHuWSCHuA could begin His 3½ year ministry. No doubt the Savior was

well versed in the Scriptures being taught by His mother Miriam and

Joseph from childhood. He was able to discuss the deeper things of the

Word with the priests when He was about 13, ready for

His

(Son of the Covenant)

A point many overlook, immersion into the written word of YaHuWaH, we

need to understand the deeper meaning of being immersed in his word,

before we come to immersion has a physical act... the word “REPENT”

means a turnabout, to live a life by the word (TORAH/ INSTRUCTIONS),

We obtain HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, in our quest to live by HIS WORD..

BELIEVE , the true Gospel of the KINGDOM of YaHuWaH and the goal is

not just a ruwach existence, but and again many do not even look outside

of what they know, yours and my goal is “eternal life inherent” beyond

that of the spiritual Realm ( Messengers/ Angels can DIE). My Belief is in

Page 8: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

the KINGDOM of YaHuWaH and its eternity. Immersion is the physical act

of knowing, believing, and living that righteous way, to me his kingdom is

has real has the air we breathe.... it is called a righteous KINGDOM, what

is righteousness, HIS COMMANDS ARE RIGHTEOUS

WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE; HEED YOUR CALLING

Luke 2:42-49.

When he was twelve years old, they went up to Yahrushalom according to

the custom of the festival, and when they had fulfilled the days, as they

were returning, the Boy YaHuWSCHuA stayed behind in Yahrushalom.

Yowseph and His mother didn’t know it, but supposing Him to be in the

company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for Him among their

relatives and acquaintances. When they didn’t find Him, they returned to

Yahrushalom, looking for Him. It happened after three days they found

Him in the Miqdash, sitting in the midst of the Teachers, both listening to

them, and asking them questions. All who heard Him were amazed at His

understanding and His answers. When they saw Him, they were

astonished, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have you treated us

this way? Behold, your Father and I were anxiously looking for You.”

Yet, it was following immersion that the Ruwach HaQodesh descended

upon the Savior in its fullness and He became fully prepared for the task

of proclaiming the Evangel.

Laying on of Hands

By the laying on of hands following immersion we are also given the

Ruwach HaQodesh. The Ruwach HaQodesh is the invisible power of

YaHuWaH which is given to us. His indwelling Ruwach (Spirit) gives us a

new direction in our lives and draws us closer to Him. Our goals and

attitudes are changed and we no longer defer to the pulls of the flesh. A

strong, spiritual outlook is given us which binds us together with those

seeking the narrow way.

The indwelling Ruwach HaQodesh draws us closer to YaHuWaH in thought

and deed, and we find our interest is now in a greater movement. We

become a part of the growing body of the MaSHYaCH, the body of

believers, which makes up the Ekklesia, "the called out ones." Our concern

Page 9: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

is for the other saints in the Assembly who hunger for fellowship and are

also seeking to mature into the image and likeness of the Savior.

To each believer immersed into the body is given a spiritual gift from

YaHuWaH. This gift is to be used for the benefit of the Assembly. The

laying on of hands is found in the Old Covenant (OT) and is indeed an

important practice that follows immersion. Notice the following account in

which the Ruwach HaQodesh was given only when the Apostles Kepha and

Yahuwchanan laid hands upon the immersed ones:

Acts 8:17-18

Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Ruwach

haQadosh. Now when Shimon saw that the Ruwach HaQodesh was given

through the laying on of the emissaries’ hands, he offered them money,

[Simon Magus was an infidel].

Paul reminds Timothy that we should be ever mindful of the presence

within us of the Ruwach HaQodesh. The gifts of the Ruwach (Spirit) are

passed on to others by the Elders of the assembly:

Timothy 4:14

Do not neglect the gift you received through the prophecies spoken to you

when the elders of the assembly laid their hands on you. Give your

complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so

that everyone will see your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and

on your teaching. Stay true to what is right, and YaHuWaH will save you

and those who hear you.

Furthermore, Paul reminds Timothy to revive the gift of the Ruwach

(Spirit) from YaHuWaH which was given him by the laying on of Paul’s

hands:

2 Timothy 1:6-7

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the Ruwach's gift YaHuWaH

gave you when I laid my hands on you. For YaHuWaH has not given us a

Ruwach of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Notice that immersions were carried out by those specially called of

YaHuWaH. The Elder is responsible for the guidance of the Assembly and

better able to discern who is ready for immersion. Immersion itself does

not promise immediate miracles. We rely on answered prayer and the

promises of our Heavenly Father YaHuWaH and His tender mercies.

Page 10: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

immersion is followed by the laying on of hands by which we are given the

spiritual gifts and become YaHuWaH’s spiritual sons and daughters.

Deuteronomy 34:9

Yahuwshua (יהושע) the son of Nun was full of the ruwach of wisdom; for

Moshah had laid his hands on him: and the children of YSCHRaEL listened

to him, and did as YaHuWaH commanded Moshah.

Relates that the passing of leadership from Moshah to Yahuwshua was

through Moshas’ laying his hands on Yahuwshua. Thus, the wisdom and

leadership abilities YaHuWaH had given Moses were now passed on to

Yahuwshua. The laying on of hands is to acknowledge the acceptance of

the immersed convert into the body of Mashiyach, who then is given a

special gift for strengthening, expanding, and making the "ekklesia" the

true body of believers YaHuWSCHuA is seeking.

Gifts of the Ruwach

While there are different gifts, they are all from the same source,

YaHuWaH’s Ruwach. The gifts are manifestations of the Ruwach HaQodesh

functioning in different workings, different tasks, different operations, but

all are to be used to the advantage of the Assembly. Paul sums up the

matter as follows,

Romans 12:4-10

For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members

don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in

haMashiyach, and individually members one of another. Having gifts

differing according to the favour that was given to us, if prophecy, let us

prophesy according to the proportion of our belief; or service, let us give

ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; or he who

exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he

who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Page 11: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that

which is good. In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to

another; in honor preferring one another;

Paul is here describing the result of those who are immersed into

YaHuWSCHuAs name. Some misguided ones have the concept that upon

immersion one would be given the gift of tongues. They have been told

that "speaking in tongues" is the proof one has the Ruwach HaQodesh,

however, tongues appears to be the least of the gifts. Paul clearly states

that the gifts of the Ruwach HaQodesh are to be used to up build,

strengthen, encourage, teach, guide, and help give the body of believers

to attain the sterling and loving character that the Head of the body,

YaHuWSCHuA Himself, displayed.

There are a number of spiritual gifts which members of the body of

MaSHiYaCH are given and the periscope of

Romans 12

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of YaHuWaH, to present

your bodies a living slaughter, kodesh, acceptable to YaHuWaH, which is

your reasonable worship. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be

transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is

the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of YaHuWaH. For I say, through

the favour that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to

think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think

reasonably, as YaHuWaH has apportioned to each person a measure of

belief. For even as we have many members in one body, and all the

members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one

body in haMashiyach, and individually members one of another. Having

gifts differing according to the favour that was given to us, if prophecy, let

us prophesy according to the proportion of our belief; or service, let us

give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; or he who

exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he

who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Let

love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is

good. In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; in

honor preferring one another; not lagging in diligence; fervent in Ruwach;

bond serving the Master; rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles;

continuing steadfastly in prayer; contributing to the needs of the kodesh

ones; given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless, and

don’t curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high

things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits.

Page 12: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all

men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.

Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to YaHuWaH's

wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to Me; I will repay, says the

Master.”

Therefore:

Proverbs 25: 21-22

“If your enemy should hunger, feed him food! If he should thirst, give

him water to drink! Because you are heaping coals of fire upon his head,

[and YaHuWaH, He will repay it to you!]”

Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Please if you take nothing away from this study, keep romans 12

in your heart

Mentioned above shows there are eight gifts given to the saints. Paul

describes the body of believers as a living, organic unity, a body. Each

member of the body is given gifts to be used properly and not abused

within the overall framework of love by which sin and evil is overcome

with good. At every turn, Paul urges we all have love for the brethren to

show true humility in dealing with the problems that arise.

The Power of His Blood

Romans 6 is certainly one of the clearest explanations concerning

immersion’s effectiveness and the results it achieves for us. This

exposition of immersion is perhaps one of the most profound ever given.

Paul raises the question; if we are forgiven our sins because of the grace

of YaHuWaH, should we sin all the more so grace will be even greater;

Romans 6

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that favour may

abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any

Page 13: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

longer? Or don’t you know that all we who were immersed into

haMashiyach YaHuWSCHuA were immersed into his death? We were

buried therefore with Him through immersion to death that just like

haMashiyach was raised from the dead through the Esteem of the Father,

so we also might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united

with Him in the likeness of His death, we will also be in the likeness of His

resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was hanged on the stake

with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would

no longer be in bondage to sin. For he who has died has been freed from

sin. But if we died with haMashiyach, we believe that we will also live with

Him; knowing that haMashiyach, being raised from the dead, dies no

more. Death no more has dominion over Him! For the death that He died,

He died to sin one time; but the Life that He lives, He lives for the Mighty

One. Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to

YaHuWaH in HaMaSHiYaCH YaHuWSCHuA our Master.

Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it

in its lusts.

Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness,

but present yourselves to YaHuWaH, as alive from the dead, and your

members as instruments of righteousness to YaHuWaH. For sin will not

have dominion over you. For you are not under Torah, but under favour.

What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under Torah, but under

favour? May it never be! Don’t you know that to whom you present

yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you

obey; whether of sin to death or of obedience to righteousness? But

thanks be to YaHuWaH, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you

became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto you

were delivered. Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of

righteousness.

Romans 6:19

I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you

presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness

upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to

righteousness for purity. For when you were servants of sin, you were free

in regard to righteousness. What fruit then did you have at that time in

the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is

death. But now, being made free from sin, and having become

Page 14: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

bondservants of YaHuWaH, you have your fruit of purification, and the

result of eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of

YaHuWaH is endless life in HaMaSHiYaCH YaHuWSCHuA our Master.

Exodus 21: 5-6

“But if the servant surely says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my

children, I would not want to go free’, then his master must take him

before the magistrates and he will take him to the door or the portal, and

the master will perforate his ear with an awl, and he will serve him

forever.”

Paul answers his own question by asking.

"If we have died to sin through immersion, why should we go back to

sinning again?”

He makes the point that as YaHuWSCHuA died; we also symbolically died

by entering the watery grave of immersion. We are then cleansed from

our sins and are to overcome and steer clear of future sinning.

Resurrected to Newness of Life

Just as YaHuWSCHuA was dead and placed in the tomb, through

immersion, we spiritually mimic His death in dying to the old way of life.

We turn from our old ways of the past and seek to walk on higher ground

as we follow in His footsteps.

"Do you not know that as many of us as were immersed into

YaHuWSCHuA were immersed into His death? Therefore we were buried

with Him by immersion into death, so that as Mashiyach was raised up

from the dead by the glory of the Father; even so we also should walk in

newness of life."

When YaHuWSCHuA arose from the tomb, His body was changed to

(ruwach) spirit. He moved through walls, entered rooms without coming

through the doors; He appeared before the witnesses and then

disappeared before them. All this He could do because He now had a

glorified body.

Page 15: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

Lev. 17:14

For as to the life of all flesh, its blood is with its life: therefore I said to

the children of YSCHRaEL, “You shall not eat the blood of any kind of

flesh; for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.”

His blood was shed for you and me and blood no longer was coursing

through His veins.

Now YaHuWSCHuA had Ruwach (Spirit) energy flowing though His veins

which gave Him the resplendent picture found in

Revelation 1:13-16!

And in the-midst of ha’menorot One similar-to the Son-of Adam, having

been clothed to the feet, and having been girded at the breast with a gold

belt. His head and His hair were white as white wool, like snow. His eyes

were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished brass [gold, silver,

brass alloy], as if it had been refined in a furnace. His voice was like the

voice of many waters. He had seven stars in His right hand. Out of His

mouth proceeded a fervent Ruwach [The Word of YaHuWaH]. His Face

was like the sun shining in its strength.

He is a bright, shining individual whose face shines forth like the noonday

sun. Just as He is a changed individual and no longer hindered by the

flesh, so we upon being immersed into His Name, are no longer living with

our desires governed by the material world. Our thoughts are now on a

higher plane where YaHuWSCHuA and YaHuWaH think and act! We think

in the spiritual realm.

The Old Man Dies - Body of Sin Destroyed

Rom. 6:5-6

For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, we

will also be in the likeness of His resurrection; knowing this, that our old

man was hanged on the stake with Him, that the body of sin might be

done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

When we come up out of the watery grave we will still be human and have

to face human problems in this physical realm. The person we once were

Page 16: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

has been impaled with MaSHiYaCH, but our attitude has been changed.

The difference is that we have a new outlook on life, and have YaHuWaH’s

Ruwach (Spirit) within which strengthens us. Paul says "the body of sin

might be destroyed," that is, the old nature is inoperative. We now can

call upon YaHuWaH’s help to overcome our own shortcomings; overcome

the world as well as the wiles of the Tempter.

Rom. 6:7-9

For he who has died has been freed from sin. But if we died with

haMashiyach, we believe that we will also live with Him; knowing that

haMashiyach, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more

has dominion over Him!

The New English Bible renders verse 7, "A dead man is no longer

answerable for his sin." Death pays all debts, so the man who has died

with Mashiyach has his slate wiped clean, and is ready to begin his new

life with Mashiyach, his past forgotten. Upon arising from the immersed in

waters, one’s past is washed away, he is a new creature, as Paul

emphasizes,

2 Corinthians 5:17

What this means is that those who become Believers become new

persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new

life has begun!

Old Things Pass Away, All Things Become New

No matter what sins he has committed, or what commandment he has

broken, the past is forgotten. This also includes divorce and remarriage. If

such sins are not washed away, then Mashiyach’s sacrifice is not the

cleansing blood the Bible says it is. Paul emphasizes,

Romans 6:10-11

For the death that He died, He died to sin one time; but the Life that He

lives, He lives for the Mighty One. Thus consider yourselves also to be

dead to sin, but alive to YaHuWaH in HaMashiyach YaHuWSCHuA our

Master.

One Ruwach (Spirit), Many Gifts

Page 17: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

Paul goes into detail describing the body of MaSHiYaCH which he likens to

the physical human body. The brethren making up the body of Mashiyach

have various talents and gifts all of which complete the body and make it

function smoothly.

We should understand that the body of MaSHiYaCH, the Ekklesia, is made

up of brethren who are specially selected of YaHuWaH. Paul now goes on

to show the various gifts of the Ruwach (Spirit) are needful for the body,

yet given by the same Ruwach (Spirit). He emphasizes in

1 Corinthians 13

If I speak with the languages of men and of messengers, but don’t have

love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. If I have the

gift of prophecy, and know all secrets and all knowledge; and if I have all

persuasion, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am

nothing. If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body

so that I may boast, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.

Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is

not proud,

doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not

provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but

rejoices with the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all

things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there

are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will

be done away with. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; but

when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be

done away with. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I

thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away

childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.

Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I am also fully

known. But now persuasion, hope, and love remain—these three. The

greatest of these is love.

That agape love is the more excellent way.

Evidently there were some Corinthian brethren who mistakenly assumed

ecstatic speech was favored, which encouraged many to attempt to

acquire that gift. Paul clarifies that every gift is important and needed for

the good of the body, "But there are differences of gifts, but the same

Page 18: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

Spirit. And there are differences of ministries, but the same Sovereign.

And there are differences of workings, but it is the same ALuaHiYM

working all things in all."

1Cor. 12:4-6

Paul goes to great lengths to show the Ekklesia, the body of MaSHiYaCH,

is made up of many different people with diverse backgrounds. But all

have the same goal which is to be in the Kingdom. We are to help others

along the way, as we seek to be kings and priests in the Kingdom,

Rev. 5:10.

Paul lists the various gifts which are given to make the body of believers

a viable group, all working together for the good of the brethren

comprising the Ekklesia, referred to as the "called out ones."

Diversity in Unity

But to each one is given the showing forth of the Spirit to our profit. For

through the Spirit is given to one;

1Cor. 12:7-11

But to each man there is given a manifestation of the Ruwach, that it may

help him. For to one is given through the Ruwach the word of wisdom,

and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Ruwach; to

another persuasion, by the same Ruwach; and to another gifts of healing,

by the same Ruwach; and to another workings of miracles; and to another

prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds

of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages. But the one

and the same Ruwach works all of these, distributing to each one

separately as He desires.

"But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing

separately to each one as He desires."

Paul ranks certain gifts in order. With the various members having their

own gift for the Ekklesia, it is necessary the members work together as a

body or as a well-oiled machine. We are not to allow differences to divide

us, but to forbear one another, knowing that we are to tolerate each

Page 19: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

member of the body, for YaHuWaH has placed each one in the assembly

as He saw fit.

1 Corinthians 12:12-19

For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of

the body, being many, are one body; so also is haMashiyach. For in one

Ruwach we were all immersed into one body, whether YaHuWDYM or

Arameans whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one

Ruwach. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot would

say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not

therefore not part of the body. If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the

eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body. If

the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole

were hearing, where would the smelling be? But now YaHuWaH has set

the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired. If they

were all one member, where would the body be?

YaHuWaH Sets Those in the Assembly

Again, Paul emphasizes that each immersed member of the assembly will

likely have a different gift and goes to some length to make his point. He

indicates that even the most humble parts of the body are necessary. We

are to strive after the better gifts, and to do so with agape love.

1 Corinthians 12:28-31

YaHuWaH has set some in the assembly: first emissaries, second

prophets, third teachers, then workers of power, then gifts of healing,

helps, governments, and various kinds of languages Are all emissaries?

Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of power? Do all have

gifts of healing? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret? But

earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to

you.

Gifts are Given to the Assembly

Ephesians 4:8-9

That is why the Scriptures say, "When He ascended to the heights, He led

captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. Notice that it says "He

ascended." This means that haMashiyach first came down to the lowly

world in which we live.

YaHuWSCHuA s ascending up on high after his death and resurrection

and gave special gifts unto mankind. Then follows the various gifts He has

given to the assembly, His body, for which he died.

Note these are gifts for guidance and leadership of the assembly. First

mentioned is the office of apostles. However, this has been fulfilled as the

apostles were to have seen the risen MaSHYaCH,

Acts 1:22

Beginning from the immersion of Yahuwchanan, to the day that He was

received up from us, of these, one must become a witness with us of His

resurrection.”

1Cor, 15:7-8

Then he appeared to Ya'aqob, then to all the emissaries, and last of all, as

to the child born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also.

2 Cor. 12:12

When I was with you, I certainly gave you every proof that I am truly an

apostle, sent to you by YaHuWaH Himself. For I patiently did many signs

and wonders and miracles among you.

and Paul was the last apostle, having seen YaHuWSCHuA on the

Damascus road,

Acts 9

A prophet in the renewed Covenant (NT) was considered one who received

a direct message from YaHuWaH Himself and then delivered it to those

concerned. This was before the renewed Covenant (NT) was written, and

Page 21: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

such guidance was needed by the infant Ekklesia. There are a number of

examples such as,

"In Antioch … Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted

the brethren with many words, and confirmed them,

Acts 15:32

Yahuwdah and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the

brothers with many words, and strengthened them

Since we now have the completed Renewed Covenant (NT), most scholars

feel the prophets and apostles are not as needful today as when the early

assembly was getting started. But evangelists, pastors and teachers are

indeed a part of needful guidance of the Ekklesia.

Ephesians 4:9-16

Notice that it says "He ascended." This means that haMashiyach first came

down to the lowly world in which we live. The same One Who came down

is the One Who ascended higher than all the heavens, that He might fulfill

all matters. He is the One who gave these gifts to the assembly: the

apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.

Their responsibility is to equip YaHuWaH's people to do His work and build

up the Assembly, the Body of HaMashiyach, until we come to such unity in

our belief and knowledge of YaHuWaH's Son that we will be mature and

full grown in the Master, measuring up to the full stature of HaMashiyach.

Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about

what we believe because someone has told us something different or

because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the Lie sound like the

truth. Instead, we will hold to the Truth in love, becoming more and more

in every way like haMashiyach, who is the Head of His Body, the

Assembly. Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly.

As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so

that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Become Part of His Body

It is clear that those immersed into the body of MaSHiYaCH become a part

of His body and are to interact and work with brethren of like faith. We

are not immersed and then expected to be aloof from the body of

Page 22: A Deeper Meaning of Immersion

MaSHiYaCH! immersion is the door to become an active part of the body

of MaSHiYaCH. We are not to go off in the woods somewhere in a

hermitlike existence without staying in contact with those in the body of

MaSHYaCH.

We are a part of the body no matter where we are and we should have

the same love and concern for the Assembly as YaHuWSCHuA does. He

said His true Assembly would never die out. We should do what we can to

strengthen, encourage, help, and make the Assembly a focal point of our

prayers for its spiritual and physical well-being. With letters, E-mail,

phone calls and visits, this can be done more easily today than at any

time in history.

A growing number seek the truth of the Bible, ignoring the pagan

practices that have crept into the customs of the church and Christianity.

YaHuWSCHuA has believers all around the world.

We strive to reach out to those who have expressed interest in

YaHuWaH’s name and His way of life.

This is what YaHuWSCHuA was referring to,

Matthew 25: 40-41; 46

“The Master shall answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you

did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me.’ Then He

shall say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into

the age-abiding fire which is prepared for the devil and his messengers;

These shall go away into age-abiding punishment, but the righteous into

age-abiding life.”
