Kama‘aina Kids has established itself as anorganization dedicated to one single idea:caringforchildren.
SchoolAgeManagersOurSchoolAgeManagersareauniquecomponentofourA+program.EachhasyearsofexperienceinallaspectsoftheA+program,havingservedasGroupLeadersandSiteCoordinatorsthemselves.TheyaredirectlyresponsibleinmanagingandprovidingsupporttoeachSiteCoordinator.Theydothiswithregularsitevisits,overseeingA+programs,reviewingcurriculumanddailyinformationandstrengtheningrelationswiththeschool andschooldistricts.The informationgathered is sharedwitheachSiteCoordinatorwithagoalofincreasingperformanceandraisingthelevelofquality.
SiteCoordinatorsAdministering the A+ program is the Site Coordinator who is responsible for thesupervision of staff as well as recordkeeping, fees collection, program evaluation,curriculum set-up, communicationwith parents, supplies and equipmentmanagementand liaisonwith school administration.Site Coordinatorsworkwith the principal toestablishaqualityA+programwithintheircommunity.
GroupLeadersGroup Leaders carry out and implement day-to-day childcare activities and providecriticalfeedbacktoourSiteCoordinatorsforqualitycontrolandassessment.TheyarecertifiedinFirstAid/CPR,trainedinBloodbornePathogensandundergoextensivetraining inbehaviormanagement,safetyandriskmanagement, lessonplanning,childdevelopment,andparentcommunication.GroupLeadersareresponsibleforplanningdailyactivities(arts,crafts,specialprojects,andperformances)fortheirgroups.GroupLeadersstrivetomakeallactivitiesmeaningfulandenjoyableforeachchildinourA+programandensuresthatchildrenareundercontrolandconstantlysupervised.GroupLeaderssetsapositiveexampleforchildrentofollow.
AdministrationComplementingourA+programisourcorporateofficewhichhandlessupportfunctionsthroughhiringandrecruitment, payroll,backgroundchecksandfingerprinting,DHSbillings,flyers,courierserviceandotheradministrativetasks.Theyarefullycapableofhandlinguniquesituationsandrequests,andhavebeenhandlingA+supportsincetheprogramsinceptionin1989.

CurriculumPassport2PlayPassport2Playisafunwaytokeepkids'mindsengagedandbodiesactive.Adaptedforchildrenofallages,theprogramallowsstudentstoexperiencehowourneighborstheworldplay,snackandgrow.AdoptedfromtheNationalAfterschoolAssociation,Passport2PlayhasbeenspecificallydesignedtofollowthekeycriteriaoutlinedintheNationalAssociationforSportandPhysicalEducation'sNationalStandardsforPhysicalEducation.Gamesandactivitiestakestudentsto12countriesover12weeks,andprovideparticipantswithawidevarietyofenrichingandeducationalexperiences.Learnmoreathttp://www.passport2play.com.
SPARKKama‘ainaKidsadoptedandhasbeenapartnerofthe“SPARK”programforthelastfiveyears.
SPARKisaresearch-basedorganizationdedicatedtocreating,implementing,andpromotinglifelongwellness.SPARKstrivestoimprovethehealthofchildrenandadolescentsbydisseminatingevidence-basedphysicalactivityandnutritionprogramsthatprovidecurriculum,staffdevelopment,trainingandequipmenttoA+staffandstudents.ThebeautyoftheSPARK program is all activities are inclusive and non-competitive. Specialtiesalloweachchildtochoosehisorheractivitiesforthemonth,dependingonhisorherspecialinterests.Bygivingchildrenchoices,disciplineproblemsandboredomdecrease,whileinterests,excitementandfunexcel.
ASpecialtyisathemearoundwhichactivitiesareplanned.Everyfourweeks,eachGroupLeaderchoosesatheme,orSpecialty,andplanseightlessons,whichwillbeconductedtwiceaweekthroughoutafourweekperiod.Theplanningprocessisacollaborativeeffort,ensuringthatchildrenareprovidedawidevarietyofindoorandoutdoorgamesandactivities.
Rotations, like Specialties, are designed around a theme, with each leader creating a series of lesson plans to beimplementedtwiceaweek,overthecourseoffourweeks.However,unlikeSpecialties,Rotationshaveeachgrouprotateandpartakeinthevariousactivitiesoverthefourweekperiod,therebyallowingchildrentheopportunitytoexperienceeveryactivityandpossiblydiscovernewtalentsorinterests.
CommunityBuildingAtKama‘ainaKidsourmissionistoprovidechildrenqualityeducationandenrichmentopportunitiesteachingasenseofself,communityandEarth.MuchofwhatwedointheA+programisintendedtostrengtheneachchild’sself-esteemandsenseofresponsibilitytoone’scommunity.Frombecominganeveryday,cooperativememberoftheA+programtoamusicalperformanceatourannual“Parent’sNight,”everythingwedoatKama‘ainaKidsisfocusedonbuildingstrongercitizensandcommunities.
AdditionalServicesEnrichmentTheEnrichmentProgrambyKama‘ainaKidsofferseachchildanopportunitytoparticipateinextracurricularactivitiesthatwillchallengemindandbody,fosterahealthyselfconcept,andhelpeachchildgainasenseofindependence.Offering choices between jazz/street/ballet/hip hop dance, martial arts, hula, baseball, basketball, track, andwrestlingallowsachildtotryoutavarietyofactivitiesthatmayenablehimorhertodeveloptohisorherfullestpotential.Thisexposurecansparkaninterestthatwilllastalifetime.
IntersessionandSummerDayCampsDuring Fall,Winter, Spring and Summer breaks, Kama‘aina Kids provides a premier day camp experience forchildrengradesK-8.WearecommittedtothehighestoperatingstandardsfortheindustryandourprogramsareaccreditedbytheAmericanCampAssociationwhosesealisrecognizednationwideasasymbolforqualitydaycampprogramming,safety,andstaffing.Wehavebeenoperatingthesecampssince1989andpartnerwithotherattractionssuchasSeaLifePark,BishopMuseum,andHawaiianWatersAdventureParktonameafew.ProgramactivitiestaughtbycertifiedKama‘ainaKidsstaffincludeswimlessons,sailing,kayaking,canoeing,Hawaiiana,andoutdoorlivingskills.Childrenalsoexperienceavarietyofhands-onlearningexperiencesthroughexcursions,arts&crafts,naturecenter,sportsandgames.
SportTactics&ActiveRecreationTrainingsSTARTfostersthedevelopmentofamorecompleteplayerwithtrainingandsupportprovidedbyprovencoachesandofficials.Recruitedspecificallyforeachsportingevent,eachcoachandstaffmemberarecarefullyreviewedandselectedbasedontheiraccomplishmentsandskillsintraining,communicationsandabilitytobringoutthebestinouryouth.
Ourprogramsareourclinics,specificallytailoredtowardseachsportingevent.Eachprogramisdesignedtosupportandenhanceexistingyouthsportsactivities.Byfocusingoneachsportindividually,youthcanhavethat"oneonone"training,motivationandsupportsonecessaryforrefiningtheirinterestsandtalents.
