Stone Home Inspections, LLC After almost 20 years pro-tectingthepeopleofthefiveboroughsasaNYPDpoliceoffi-cer, Yorktown Resident Joshua Stone is now focusing full time on inspecting the homes of potential buyers through his company Stone Home Inspections, LLC. Launched almostfiveyearsagooutofStones’ desire to continue

toserveandprotectafterhisimpendingretirement,Stone Home Inspections helps residents and families in Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut, Dutchess, Putnam, and Rockland Counties.StonewhoofficiallyretiresasapoliceofficerinMarchalways had an interest in real estate from a young age and his own personal experience with his particular home inspector was one of the reasons he became an inspector himself. According to Stone, the inspector he usedwasnotthoroughandmissedseverallargeitemsthatcosthimasignificantamountofmoneytorepair.That experience created a desire within him to not let this unfortunate situation happen to other potential homeowners. “What I enjoy most about being a home inspector is helping home buyers and homeowners make educated decisions about their potential new home,” explains Stone. “The safety of our clients is our numberonepriorityandwemakesureeverypartofapotentialhomeissafeforfamiliestoenjoyandlovefor years to come.” Stone took the required courses tobecomeaCertifiedProfessionalInspectorattheNew York Home Inspector School and his eagerness to learn led him to continue taking additional courses afterobtaininghisinitiallicense.Stoneisalsocertified

He started Stone Home Inspections along with his wife, Lisa in 2016. Owning and operating theirprivatecompanyisadreamcometrue.Injustafewshort years, the company has grown to a multi-inspec-tor company with inspectors that trained directly under Stone.Hisgoalistogivehomeownerspeaceofmindandprovidingthemwithusefulinformationtheycanusetomake a more informed decision when purchasing and maintaining their homes.Stonehaspartneredwithseveralrealestateagentswhocontinue to refer clients to him because of his reputa-tion of being so thorough and detailed oriented. He does this by performing an in-depth inspection of the home andtakeshistimetoexplaineachofhisfindingswithhis clients. Together we continue to confront COVID-19 and the day-to-day changes to our normal circumstances, I am reflectingonwhattrulymattersmostand common sense steps we can all do.The answer to that question can be so many things, especially in times such as these. But what matters most, issupport,camaraderie,andvision.Among our families, friends, colleagues, and business community these aspects of our shared experience are key to weathering any crisis.Hopefully this scourge will be behind us and Yorktown’s business scene will once againbealivewithpossibilities.Ourbusiness community is resilient, and we will get through this.The Chamber along with Town Governmenthasbeenworkinghardto implement policies that will help speed the business community along. Pleasemakesuretotakeadvantageof the special use permitting process for, not only, outdoor dining that willhelpservetheeateriesbutalsofor ANY retail establishment located with our 4 commercial zones. A retail establishment that applies for the specialusepermitcanmovepartoftheir operation (the sales part perhaps) outside and be open in an extremely substantial way. The process is quick and simple, has been expediated, the feeshavebeenwaivedandthetimelineisforapprovalis1week.Iencourageallbusinessestotakeadvantageofthisopportunity and get your applications in immediately whether or not you decide tomoveforwardwithit.Next, as you plan and prepare for your eventualreopeningpleaseconsiderthefollowing suggestions:• Implement a clearly-stated mask

policy that must be followed by anyone in your place of business

• Install sneeze guards or a similar barrier

• Consider body-temperature checks forstaff

• Considerhavingyourstafftested;certain urgent care centers are offeringbusinessesspecialgrouprates and times, which can be scheduled after-hours and at your location

Andfinally,circlingback,rememberwhatmattersmostisthatwehaveasharedvisionforourfuturebeyondthe pandemic. The Chamber has retooled and rethought for our future experience.
