1. TOPIC:

“A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON CUSTOMER ATTITUDE TOWARDS

ACCEPTANCE OF E-BANKING IN RURAL AREAS OF GONDA”

2. INTRODUCTION & REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

Internet banking (or E-banking) means any user with a personal computer and a browser can get

connected to his bank -s website to perform any of the virtual banking functions. In internet

banking system the bank has a centralized database that is web-enabled. All the services that the

bank has permitted on the internet are displayed in menu. Any service can be selected and further

interaction is dictated by the nature of service. Once the branch offices of bank are

interconnected through terrestrial or satellite links, there would be no physical identity for any

branch. It would a borderless entity permitting anytime, anywhere and anyhow banking.

Banking has never been more important to our society than it is today. The advance of

communication and computer technology and the availability of the Internet have made it

possible that one can do most banking transactions from a remote location even without stepping

into a physical financial structure - i.e., the emerging of e-banking. E-banking has been viewed

as a revolution progress in the banking industry. For instance, 20 years ago, 70% of all consumer

financial transactions went through a bank office with brick and mortar structures. Today, less

than 30% of the same consumer financial transactions run through a branch office or the lobby of

a main bank office (Online Banking Report, 2000). As a result, the banks, as an industry, are

formulating strategic plans to fight back in winning their customers. The industry believes that

by adopting new technology, the banks will be able to improve customer service level and tie

their customers closer to the bank. Meanwhile, the banking industry has been also looking for

new methods to expand its customer base and to counteract the aggressive marketing effort of

those non-traditional banking entities. Through the competition, many banks quickly realized

that there are a momentous number of customers like to do banking electronically. As such,

many banks, based on their existing 24-hour telephone banking systems, have developed and

implemented several important e -banking applications so that their customers now are able to

pay bills, transfer money among accounts, check account history, download statement

information, and computerize their checkbooks online all at easy and around the clock.

Review Literature:

The posses of development along with expending globalization and liberalization processes have

increased the number of customers and related issues. Customer protection has earned an

impotent place in the political economic and social agenda of many nations in India the

government has taken many steps including legislative.

Customer acceptance is the knowledge that a customer should have about his/her legal rights and

duties. It sis must for a customer to follow these rights. It is implemented for the protection of the

customer so that the customer is not exploited by the seller of the products.
