PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Patients seeking health care today are often bombarded with an excess of information which can further complicate a difficult healthcare decision. How do they determine who or what to believe to make that decision? Patients need their pharmacists to engage with them using powerful and well recognized communication techniques to help them navigate their health care. To do this pharmacists must transition from a counselling mindset to a coaching mindset during their patient interactions.

This interactive and experiential workshop will introduce pharmacists to the fundamental coaching skills and practical strategies for engaging in effective therapeutic conversations with their patients. Common clinical scenarios and case studies will provide participants with an opportunity to practice a coach approach. By the end of the workshop, learners will have gained the confidence to implement these new skills into their practice.

ACCREDITATIONThis workshop has been approved for credits using the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) Accreditation Standards and Guidelines
