With his wife standing at his side, Nixon told the crowd, which included children waving American flags:

McCleflan Aide Vanishes in South
CAMDEN, Arkfi March 3 (AP). —State police issued an-all-points search bulletin for Mrs. Maude Crawford, prominent woman lawyer who they said disappeared from her home under mysterious circumstances shortly before last midnight.
Mrs. Crawford, 58, is a member of the firm of Gaughan, Mc-Clellan and Laney The McClcllan of the firm is Sen. John L, McClelland D., Ark.).
Police said Mrs. Crawford's husband, Clyde, ID, told them he returned from a movie last night and found his wife had vanished. The family car was still at the house.
SOLES PUCKERED The soles of the boy's feet and
the palm of his right hand were puckered in the manner characteristic of skin that has been in water for some time, said Kelly.
li There was no indication in the autopsy findings, however, that the child died of drowning.
All the many marks and bruises on the head, body and limbs, indeed, proved conclusively that the immediate cause of death was a sadistic beating.
TWO NEW 'TIPS' Amid a number.of new "tips"
received by investigators yesterday were two that particularly aroused their interest—one from Newark, N. J., the other "from Bethlehem^ pa. An unidentified woman who tele
phoned from Newark saying she might help identify the child whose battered body was found in a cardboard box along Susquehanna rd. near Verree rd., was on her way here late in the afternoon to be questioned by homicide squad detectives.
The caller from Bethlehem-police did not reveal whether it was a man or woman—was due to arrive at detective headquarters early last night. •
Though investigators said both

before she vanished about 10:30 A. M. last Monday.
Further startling developments in the shocking denouement of the sensational case were:
Mary Jane was alive when she went into the closet, whether by her own volition or if she was placed there, the medical source said.
Bits of fur from her hat were ' rubbed off by the girl's move
ments as she fought for life and the fluff filt red into the basement through a plumbing access panel. There were no signs of vio
lence before death and no evidence the girl had been molested.
A small latch inside the closet door was stack and a child could not have opened it once it was closed, according to the authority.
Camden County Coroner Robert J. Blake said the girl could not have suffocated because of air coming through the plombing access. Frisky and apparently none the
worse, the puppy was found in the closet with the huddled form of the girl whose disappearance touched off the greatest search in the history of Camden county.
THEORY OF CHIEF Police Chief Edward Garrity
immediately after the body was discovered, insisted the girl was taken to the newly built brick one-story home only recently. Throughout the night he repeatedly declared the dwelling had been searched the day the girl was first reported missing.
Garrity said an oil burner repairman had visited the house at noon yesterday and had gone to the basement to check the heater. He heard no barking or any other noise as might have been expected of the dog.

occupied ranch dwelling. Moved by sympathy or by
curiosity, hundreds of spectators filled the block near the little girl's home, and a steady stream of automobiles turned off Black Horse pike into the small street. THOUSANDS AFFECTED
The vast throng was almost eerily silent, apparently intent only on catching a glimpse of the scene of one of the most heart-tugging dramas in the area in many years. The crowds and the silence were grim evidence that the tragedy had gripped the minds of hundreds of thousands of people.
Police roped off the entire block on 24 st. from Bellmawr lane to Cedar ave. to keep back crowds from the house at 433 2d ave., two blocks from the Barker home, where Mary Jane was found deadln a closet, and where investigators searching for clues wanted no intrusion of the curious. FAR INTO THE NIGHT
The rope barriers and the chill damp of the night did not discourage the spectators. More than 300 milled outside the prohibited area far into the night.
The scene after word of the Iragic outcome of the week-long search for Mary Jane was different only iri degree from that which the Browning lane sector had witnessed all day long.
Before noon an unending procession of automobiles had been moving through the streets, their occupants apparently intent on a glance at the Barker home at 335 E. Browning lane.
Then when the word of the fatal discovery spread, the number of cars clogged the streets and police set up road blocks and detours. It was well after midnight before tht area was cleared. )
