CONTEMPORARY COFFEE

We are looking for 10 individuals or families to volunteer to serve as the Coffee Team for the 9am service. Each volunteer/family will be asked to volunteer 4-5 Sundays over the course of the year. This is a simple ministry to our fellow parishioners that takes only a little time before and after to service to make and set the coffee and then clean up. Sign up online at ChristCh.org (search: “Coffee”). Questions? Vicki and Greg Johnson, [email protected] or 843.323.7388.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY— 6:30-8PM Facilitated by Heather Aydlette and Rebecca Kutcher, studies and reflections on contemporary money conditions and management suggest a widespread stress, such that, for all of our wealth in one of the richest countries in the world, many struggle to pay their bills, and find giving beyond themselves hardly possible to even consider seriously. And yet, as Christians we are called to be good stewards and generous givers. Many have found Financial Peace to be a compelling way to understand the road out of stress and scarcity to peace, stewardship and generosity. Study materials will be required for the class—cost $93.

HEALING PRAYER STUDY — 6-7:30PM This study, by Francis and Judith McNutt, is designed to enable individuals to understand and learn how to practice Christ’s healing ministry that we are all called upon to fulfill. Come learn about God’s gift of prayer, the history of prayer, specific issues of prayer and training for prayer ministries if you so desire. There will be DVDs to experience, discussions and prayers for all. The study is facilitated by the Christ Church Prayer Team. The cost is $30 for the study manual.

MARRIAGE CLASS — 6:15-7:30PM

For all of its blessings, marriage is hard work - and when there are children it can seem like there is little time for a married couple to come together, relax and have fun. This time is for all ages and stages of marriage to come together and have some fun, receive support, and be exposed to some resources for marriage. No forced sharing, though the facilitators will share their experiences of their ups and downs as you connect with your spouse and other couples. Joey and Robin Quick, Billy and Laura New, and Jimmy and Lisa New will be among the facilitators.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS DISCOVERY CLASS — 6:30-7:30PM Being disciples takes more than mere inspiration – some sense of how God has gifted us to serve is necessary. Partnering with Mark Nungesser, Father Ted will lead this class using materials from Network, a well-tested resource. A desire for a better sense of one’s spiritual gifts is an oft stated need in the church – here is a compelling means to explore that need.

FALL DISCIPLESHIP

register online at ChristCh.org or by contacting the church office at 884.9090

A nursery, as well as activities for children and youth will be offered during these sessions.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS Beginning September 16

LEWIS WHITE BIBLE STUDY — 9:15AM Join this group as they study the Gospel of Mark. Come and participate in informal and enriching discussions as they study the living word. No prior Bible study experience required!

THE RECTOR’S FORUM — 10:10-10:50AM Join in a forum that helps to further connect faith and life facilitated by Father Ted Duvall. Topics will range from the life of the church to theological education.

SUNDAY SISTERS — 10:10-10:50AM

Ephesians has been called the “Queen of the Epistles’” because Paul explains the necessity and beauty of the Church as the Body of Christ and the all-sufficiency of Jesus. All women are invited to join the Sunday Sisters, led by Tricia Elliott and Tes Boyette, as they study this book of the New Testament during this coming fall. They will be studying Ephesians for Everyone by N.T. Wright and the Bible of your choice. Books are $8.

YOUNG ADULTS: CHRIST & CULTURE — 10:10-10:50AM This class, geared for those in their 20s and 30s and their spouses, led by Father Joe will feature discussions that engage events and issues in contemporary culture (recent movies, world events, or a magazine article) by looking at the Scripture and letting the Christian tradition speak to them. The goal is to learn, think about, and respond to all things as disciples of Jesus.

FAITH @ HOME — 10:10-10:50AM The Faith @ Home will be discussing the book The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears by Mark Batterson. Robin Quick, Director of Ministry to Children, Youth and Families will be leading the discussion of the book which seeks to draw readers into a “deeper, more passionate, persistent, and more intimate prayer life.”

SUNDAY MORNINGS Beginning September 13
