A Chance To Take A Stance

    By Ronald H. Brady

Evidence is often presented in a court of law for the purpose convicting the accused.

This evidence is very often of a visual nature. Otherwise it is more than likely that itwill be circumstantial. Generally speaking, it is difficult to place circumstantial

evidence on a physical stand in a court room so that it can be visually inspected. So it

can be safely concluded that something that can stand has a stance and therefore is

    not circumstantial.

A substance (sub-stance) is only a substitute for a real stance. A substitute is not the

real thing. Chemicals, alcohol, drugs and material objects (which are not permanent

in their existence) are all examples of substances. On the other hand, a person who

stands courageously for truth and justice is taking a stance that is in conformity with

    entities that have permanent standings.

Chemical substance abuse occurs in part because many people, who are facing the

uncertainty, danger, fear, boredom and/or the apparent injustices that are associated

with life, are not able to or not willing to take the stance of faith in the belief that all

things work together for the good for all those who love the Lord. This is a quote

from no less an authority than the Apostle Paul. Instead, many people turn to

substance abuse in an effort to cope or as a substitute for hope.

The Apostle Paul also states that Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and

the evidence of things not seen. We will propose the following interpretation for the

preceding. Faith now (at the present time) is the substance (substitute) of the things

that are hoped for but cannot presently be seen. It may be said that faith stands in asa substitute for the things that are hoped for until those hoped for things become an

    actual reality.

It is the belief of the faithful that, with the appropriate supporting work, the

substance (substitute) of the things hoped for will eventually be transformed into the

actual physical stance of things that can be seen. Where the things that can be seen

refers to the things that were originally hoped for.

    America must take a stand

    to end all substance abuse

    and even prescription drugs

should be limited to their appropriate use.

    So under no circumstance

should we stand around and not take a stance

because that would be like the wallflower

who does not have the will power

to take a chance and ask a lady to dance.

Tempo refers to rhythm or rhyme

    and temporary describes something

that is not permanent in time.

But the most important piece of wisdom

that can be found in our great landis to know that under God

    we all must meekly stand

and then we will begin to understand

    the proper place of man

    in the whole Universal Plan

In this world substances will always play

    a very substantial part.

    But in no significant way

should we be able to substantially say

that material substances are importantin connection with the true matters of the heart.
