Middle East Group LTD is a food and beverage company which was brought to the UAE in 2003 as Middle East Group LLC (MEG). MEG is part of a holding entity that includes ACTCO General Contracting, Al Hayat Pharmaceuticals and several others.

Many years of experience in food and beverage services have established Middle East Group as a leader in the hospitality sector, with more than ten different restaurants, cafés and food stands launched in the United Arab Emirates, as well as franchises in other countries.

As hinted in the name, middle-eastern generosity and convivial ways are some of the group’s main pillars, offering guests excellent, friendly reception and entertainment at all outlets, and welcoming them as loyal customers time and again. The staff’s know-how, mixed with the freshest ingredients and top quality operations turn every visit to any of MEG’s outlets into an unforgettable experience.

Middle East Group’s outlets in the UAE are: X-Presse Café, Karakand seafood restaurant, and the two Canadian franchises Café Supreme and Cyrcus Popcorn.

X-Presse Café, the story of a concept

X-Presse Café is an innovative concept, launched by MEG in 2007 in the UAE, at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi. Following the success of the flagship outlet, a second branch was later opened at Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.

Its originality resides in the fact that it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a varied menu of food and drink. Despite its designation as a café, X-Presse Café has grown into an interesting combination as a coffee house, restaurant, juice bar and pastry shop, offering an array of beverages: gourmet coffees, teas, fresh juices and fruit cocktails, accompanied by delicious sandwiches, pizzas and pastas, scrumptious salads, warm pastries and fresh house-baked goods.

Another hint in a name, X-Presse Café guarantees a fast service all the while maintaining the highest quality in its food and beverages; all customers have to do is enjoy the experience, whether they are in a hurry or have the time to savor the contents of their cup and plate.

X-Presse Café provides guests of all ages with the best products, served by an expert team in a clean, laid back and joyful environment; it is a kitchen away from home.

X-Presse Café does not merely serve food and drinks. It offers an experience! Delicious tastes and refreshing beverages are always on the menu, and whatever customers choose, they are set to embark on a unique sensory experience.

The house forte is all things bread and dough. Freshly baked dough ensures X-Presse Café’s pizzas taste as good as those served in Italy; herbed tomato sauce and rich cheese complement the fresh dough and crust, whether the choice falls on the famous marguerita or pepperoni pizzas, or on one of the house specialties: the Greek, and quesadilla chicken or beef pizzas.

Sandwiches are the second category in the bread and dough family; with French baguette and ciabata bread freshly baked in house, no one can resist a tasty sandwich with crispy lettuce and tomato. From chicken, steak and turkey, to crab, tuna and salmon passing through a veggie treat, everyone’s cravings will be satisfied. And of course, for those who simply cannot choose one out of all the mouthwatering options, a triple deck club sandwich will offer more ingredients than any other sandwich in the house.

And no bread and dough family can be complete without delicious baked goods! Warm croissants will take customers all the way to France, while marble cakes and muffins will offer them a mouthful of England.

And it does not end there! Flour, water, eggs and salt, four simple yet essential ingredients, were brought together quite a while back, to create a wonderful world of shapes and forms, and even colors (coming from carrots or spinach).

Although its origins are contested, pasta is best known as brought to the world by Italians, and for that, all five continents owe them! Pasta is one of the most eaten food types in the world.A good source of essential nutrients and low on the Glycemic Index, pasta is digested slower than other foods and provides a slow release of energy without spiking blood sugar levels: tasty and healthy!

X-Presse Café offers a large selection of pasta dishes: red sauces, creams, chicken or beef bases, nothing is left behind. All pasta types are present in the menu, including the famous spaghetti, linguine, penne, fusilli and lasagna. Some sprinkled parmigiano cheese, and the taste of Italy is at each foodie’s reach.

After all, it is not for nothing that Giuseppe Garibaldi said (on liberating Naples in 1860):“It will be maccheroni, I swear to you, that will unite Italy.”

All foodies know that a meal is not complete without a drink!

X-Presse Café makes sure that this harmony is met, by offering a wide selection of cold and warm beverages.

Simple tastes can be met with juices squeezed out of fruits from all seasons; mango, strawberry, guava, melon, kiwi, avocado and several other. But more exotic tastes will go for the special house cocktails, made of mixtures of fruits and topped with whipped cream and honey; the taste of the tropics at the sip of a straw!

But not all drinks are meant to be bubbly or fruity. A small reddish bean, toasted and ground to perfection can create one of the most refreshing and worldwide loved beverages known to man; coffee. X-Presse Café grinds and brews its own Arabica beans in house, spreading around a sweet, pungent aroma. Starting from the simple yet invigorating espresso or classic American coffee, to more bold mixtures of white or steamed dark chocolate with espresso and whipped cream, X-Presse Café’s coffees are not to be missed.

And when warm coffee is not on customers’ minds, iced drinks are there to satisfy their preference; iced lattes, cappuccinos, chocolates and shakes are the alternative and an interesting one indeed!

X-Presse Café’s coffee motto being “from the people who know coffee, to those who love it”, no preference is left aside, which is why, customers can also discuss their likings with the staff, as to have specific blends and mixtures prepared specially for them.

MEG offers X-Presse Café franchising opportunities for both single unit franchisees and master franchisees.The franchise system helps expand the X-Presse Café name, adds value to the brand and optimizes efficiency and cost-effectiveness everywhere. At this time, the franchise territory is not limited. The expansion plan is to cover the whole of the Middle East, GCC and Levant countries, and eventually expand farther.

In terms of design and construction, it is imperative that locations be chosen and interiors designed to best serve the customer in every aspect of the operation. The standard choice of materials -mainly wood and marble-, selection of specific seating arrangements, lighting moods and other design items all help create a warm, welcoming and appetizing atmosphere.
