Glendie M. Mansalapus BS Psychology 2201 A Brief History of Barangay Ambulong Barangay Ambulong is a former sitio of Barangay Tabangao- Aplaya Batangas, about eight kilometers south of the town. To reach Barangay Ambulong, have a jeepney ride from Batangas City going to Tabangao Aplaya and drop to Ambulong – proper just across the river with a water spillway based from the history of the oldest folk, Ambulong got its name from the characteristics of the watercourse along the cliff of the hill. During the early times, watercourse flows continuously throughout the years. Ambulong became an independent barrio when about seven hundred peoples drafted a resolution requesting the Municipal council that sitio Ambulong be separated from its mother barrio in the year 1958. The peoples reason out in their petition and resolution that the source of income or industry of Tabangao is fishing contrary to Ambulong residence which is purely farmers. Besides that the barrio officials are not accessible to Ambulong residence because all council man and barangay captain came from the barrio of Tabangao themselves. The request was approved by the Municipal council of Batangas and was forwarded the provincial board for further approval. It was then approved as independent barrio on January 25, 1960 with a registered name Tabangao Ambulong headed by first

A Brief History of Barangay Ambulong

Barangay Ambulong is a former sitio of Barangay Tabangao- Aplaya Batangas, about

Ambulong became an independent barrio when about seven hundred peoples drafted a

Macatangay for a year succeeded by the second barrio captain Alfonso M. Soriano.

Mr. Sabino C. Panapanaan became the third barrio captain when in the year 1963 the

incumbent barrio captain Alfonso M. Soriano indorsed the said position to the later for personal

reason. Mr. Panapanaan remains in his post as the Barrio Executive when he was officially

elected during the January 14, 1968 and January 9, 1972-barrio elections.

As the Shell Refinery is the jurisdiction of barrio Ambulong, the 10% share realty tax (as

provided for the Republic Act No. 3590) goes to Barrio ambulong in a big amount approved by

the secretary of finance Hon. Eduardo Z. Romualdez.

From being a former sitio of Tabangao, Ambulong came to be an independent. Barrio

quite progressing step by step.
