I had only been on the beach for a few minutes, and, already I was bored. Mum and Dad just sat under the parasol and read the newspaper. I decided to go and explore the beach. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a tiny, powder blue crab. I gently picked it up and began to examine it. I was so busy looking at the crab, I didn’t notice an enormous wave was racing towards the beach. Within seconds, I was twirling and tumbling beneath it, I didn’t know which way was up. But just as quick as it picked me up, it dumped me back on the sand.

I sat there for a few minutes, dazed, wondering just what had happened to me. I could feel something wet and slimy draped across my legs. I thought it was a snake. I was terrified. I was scared to look but I did look down. I was relieved to see it was just a piece of seaweed. I laughed out loud and called myself a scaredy cat. Then just beyond my legs I saw something glittering in the sunlight. I got up and crept towards it. It was blue in colour and the shape of a shoe box. It had a long leather looking strap attached to it. Cautiously, I picked it up and began to examine it. I was unsure what it was so I raced towards my parents. I was out of breath by the time I reached them. They thought something was wrong and looked concerned. “LOOK WHAT I FOUND!” I managed to blurt out, as I put the camera into their hands. “What is it? Can I keep it? What does it do?” I shouted…...
