Over 1.9 million people go through the Convention Center annually for performing arts, special events, sports activities, trade shows and conventions. In 2003, Carnival Corporation christened the $40-million Long Beach Cruise Terminal by welcoming the 70,000-ton Ecstasy cruise ship. With the recent announcement of Carnival Cruise Lines adding a third ship to its local fleet, Long Beach is poised to become the busiest cruise terminal on the West Coast providing an economic impact of $65 million to the region.
