St. Therese of Lisieux’s Daily Offering

Oh my God! I offer You all my actions of this day for the

intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I

desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my

simplest works, by uniting them to His infinite merits; and I

wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them in the

furnace of His merciful love.

Oh my God! I ask of You for myself and for those dear to me

the grace to fulfill perfectly Your holy will, to accept for love

of You the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may

one day be united together in Heaven for all eternity. Amen.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER MAY 10, 2020

This will be a quiet place where our hearts will

find peace. Here we can meditate on the mysteries of

the rosary and Mary will hear us as she embraces us

because we are her children.

Due to the fact that the world intrudes in our lives at

every turn, and we have so much to accomplish on any

given day, Jesus knows that we need Mary. His mom

is special, so special that Jesus gave her to us before

His death on the cross. Still there are those who don’t

know Mary or have a devotion to her. Sadly, many

sins are committed against her Immaculate Heart.

Where will the reparation come from if it doesn’t

come from us? Just beginning the day with a Hail

Mary will bring us closer to her

Let’s not forget Mary or push her aside

because we just want to go directly to God ourselves.

After all, many of us have devotions to different saints

whom we love, let’s bring Mary into our circle of

friends. Please, never forget Mary.

Mary J. Joachim has written for the Vermont Catholic

Tribune, the Eagle, the Social Justice Review and Fun for

Kidz. She is the author of St. Anne Shrine: A Sanctuary of

Healing and Peace. And one of her greatest joys is being

grammie to Owen, Gabby and Wyatt. *********************************************

Walking with Moms in Need Pregnant and parenting moms in need are in our parishes and our

neighborhoods. Pope Francis reminds us that our parishes need to

be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of

indifference.” Everyone in our SFX community should know

where to refer a pregnant woman in need. Beginning March 25,

2020 the Church will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pope John

Paul II’s encyclical Evangelium Vitae; a document reaffirming

the Church’s teaching on the value of every human life. This

anniversary gives us the opportunity as a parish to join a

nationwide effort from March 25, 2020-March 25, 2021

entitled “Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service”. We

invite all parishioners to join us as we embark on this Year of

Service. For more information and to ensure you receive news

and updates please contact Valerie Parzyck at (802) 658-6110 x

The Splendor of Heaven and Earth

By

Mary J. Joachim

May and October have to be the most beautiful

months of the year because they are the months of color.

No doubts about it, if we go for a walk, ride a bike, take a

day trip we will be dazzled. The resplendent colors dotting

the landscape are as numerous as the many stars glistening

in the night sky. We can be sure of one thing God definitely

loves color.

In May, the leaves are gracefully stirring

with the wind, the lawn is green, the flowers are popping

up all over our yards with the colors of the rainbow, and the

lilacs are filling the air with a delicious aroma to fill our

senses. Besides the birth of a child, what could be more

amazing than to experience the rebirth of the earth once

again? Every spring God bestows upon us, this wonderful

gift of renewal.

Next is the month of October and everywhere we

look we see God’s artistry. It’s as though overnight He has

taken a paintbrush to the trees and turned the leaves red,

orange and gold. The Green Mountains are awash with

color, and people from all over the world come to Vermont

to gaze upon His beautiful masterpiece. There it is God’s

creation captivating us once again.

However, May and October have something else in

common; both months belong to Mary, our beautiful

Mother. We honor her in a special way, as the Queen of

Heaven, with a May crowning. At the same time we recall

the first apparition of Fatima that took place on May 13,

1917 where she called herself “Our Lady of the Rosary.”

Then on October 7th we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of

the Rosary, and we remember the last apparition of Fatima

that occurred on October 13, 1917 when the miracle of the

sun took place.

Do we remember what Mary asked of all of her

children during the first apparition at Fatima? She asked

that we offer up our sufferings in reparation for sins and in

supplication for the conversion of sinners. She also asked

that we say a daily rosary for world peace.

Hopefully, if we don’t have a devotion to Mary we

will enter into a relationship with her by saying a daily

rosary. After all, this is our weapon against Satan. With

Mary’s help we have the means to bring about peace to our

world and to our families.

Jesus wants each and every one of us to reach out to

Mary, His Mother and our Mother. After all, we are family

and families stay close to one another. Our Lady is waiting

to come to our aid. Oh, how patiently she awaits us.

However, there is one thing that is essential for our prayer

life. We need to find a peaceful place away from the noise

of this world. This sanctuary can be in our home, on a

park bench or sitting by the shores of Lake Champlain

or the Winooski River.
