!· occupied the same positions as·· previously reported. The regiment

wasc spread out in a ~ma.r~~cini ty d:t' Hi'iACHON, Nor .. ~l

Korea (CT 8617), with the Regimental CP north of SANG-NI (CT 861105).

The 9th Infantry continued to be commanded by Colonel Vlilbur 'Ttfilson.

The 1st En, commanded by Major .Anthony J •. Teneza, '\'Jas in:: the vicinity

of HAD.AERI (CT 895157) 1 and the 2nd En, commanded by Iviajor Dudley T.

Parrish, occup~ed a position, im the vicinity of KUDUNJI (CT 844190).

The Thailand Bn, with Lt. Colonel Aung Potiga.ni t as its commands:c~,

remained in_ their location~ vicinity of HANSOMOL ( CT 836117). Just

~after the start of the month, neviS: was received that the 3rd Bn which

had been on KOJE-ID guarding prisoners, was to return and close into

an: area west of CHANGGO-RI (CT 843165) by 4 July. Lt. Colonel Rol:··

ert w. Garrett was still in command of the Blue Bn.

As: the month commenced, the regiment continued to fUlf'ill its

mission during this period, namely, traya-tng--and, in case of pene-r.ra

·, tion; of the MLR in the IX Corps sector, occupying of' blocking pos

itions and possibly counterattacking.

With. the coming of July, the training period passed its second

month.. During this time, after coming o f'f' the line at KOiviH\'fA, &~

phasis. was· being placed on training the individual soldier and, later

training him together with other members of his squad and platoon in:

team tactics. Looking ahead, the coming period of' training was to

add polish and f'inesse to his actions as a fighting soldier.
